So post interesting things that your relatives and ancestors were/did.

My great grandad was in the Old IRA based in Roscommon where he played a significant role against the Black and Tans during the War of Independence.
My other great grandad was due to go on the Titanic but unfortunately he didn't have all the vaccinations done so he couldn't go.
And my mam's cousin was the pianist in The Commitments.

If everybody that missed the Titanic actually got on it it would have sunk before it left Cork.

Seriously Where To, how are you always the first respondent to new threads?

Do you live inside the internet or what?

My grand-mother was questioned by special branch over paramilitary activities in the 70's.

*I was not born and have no-links to said organizations.

My grandad's family were soldiers, as were his brothers, and they were fairly high up in the Irish army as well.

What did he do after that? Did he take early retirement?

Christ was not "immaculately conceived", his mother was.

My paternal grandfather was involved in the IRA in some small way I think. My maternal grandfather was a sculptor.

My Granddad was involved in Allied war crimes during the 2nd world war.

He used to bring Italian POWs to watch Scottish football matches.

I would be guessing they wished they were killed on the battle field, that is worse than water boarding.

So I guess this means that your father never did anything significant, and that includes your awesome self. ;)

Coincidentally, my great grandad rode a bird in Roscommon while her fella(some big shot in the old RA) was off fighting the Black and Tans.

My grandfather invented the blow-up sex doll, but I don't want to over-inflate his influence on humanity.

ok, he didn't, but he was a Mayor, so that's quite posh. No idea how things went downhill so rapidly after he died...

My Grandfather died in a Japanese POW camp.

He was a corporal in the Japanese Light Infantry.
He fell out of a watch tower one night , he was drunk on duty.

Your great grandad was not in the "Old IRA" as no such organisation fought the Tans. He was in the IRA.

Somewhat ironically one of my great grandfathers was in the British Army and was wounded in action at Ypres.
