    Hi,
Can anyone help me find out the tax band for MINI Cooper Petrol 2011 1.6L automatic? Called three mini dealers--- two told me cost E390/Y, one told me E270? And the tax office charged me E514/Y now.
    Thanks

The CO2 emissions are on the VLC, check here for the amount you pay.

Both Parkers and Honest John have it on the €390 rate, but it doesn't mater what they say as it's the VLC which counts.

Not surprised. There's thousands there. Which variation is yours, and what's on the log book?

Here's a strange one. My motor tax is 710 per annum or 200 per quarter, but arrears are under 60 per month. So if you pay quarterly and you miss a month, you end up paying less, assuming ou pay at all and don't try to declare it off the road for that time.

It was changed to 1/12 from 1/10 a while back. It's a months portion of the annual rate.

Yeah I did figure that out, but it seems a bit odd to me that they don't calculate it at the quarterly rate, especially if people pay it quarterly. It's almost an encouragement to be a month late, as you'll get away with a month no problem.

Sorry just did some searching to find a pic of the VLC and found out it's call the VRC now. This Vehicle Registration Cert is the registration document for the car

Countryman? Did that come in 1.6 petrol? auto countryman would have high enough emissions id say

514? Is your car really 2011? Is it an import? Maybe something weird happened during registration here?

MINI 1.6 Auto is 156g/km according to Honest John

    http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/facts-and-figures/mini/hatchback/hatchback-2006/45129/

Which puts you right on the €570 bracket.
Yeah, I can see 570 happening, 514 suggests someone has made a mistake somewhere!

As above, the emissions figure is on the registration cert, and if it came from the uk, it'd have been on the v5 cert too.

514 is not a post 2008 rate. If your car is what you say it is then it should be 570, or maybe 390 depending on EXACT model. Put your reg into the link provided above, what is the rate that comes out of it?

I'd recommend not trying the same attitude with the motor tax office btw!

It's NOT a Mini Cooper S. It's a Mini Cooper 1.6 Auto. Sport Pack is just a styling thing.

There's not point in us sitting here throwing figures at you. The only way for you to be certain is to check the emissions figure on your registration cert.

i am sure the tax office had the cert on their hand when they charged me E514 ( as there were no E514 on emission tax band at all), all i need here are some back up when i get back to them.

ohh yes, I will ask them how can you charge a 2011 car based on engine size, are you out of your mind!!

You don't need to put your reg in anywhere.

On the VRC the CO2 output is listed, have a look at what that says and then see if matches the amount from the link I posted earlier. If it doesn't match then you can get your money back. If it's not different you'll need to contact MINI and get the correct CO2 for the car and see if it can be changed on the VRC.

It doesn't mater what links we provide as the MotorTax is solely based on the CO2 output listed on the VRC.
