womens tits drop to their knees and their arses balloon to the size of the death star when they get old..and thats not even mentioning the menopause.that said though when women are hot they are hot.many hetrosexual female friends of mine spend more time admiring the female form than male.

No 50 something man I have ever seen looks like George Clooney. He's always the example that is wheeled out as well, as if balding beer bellied 30 somethings will magically turn into Clooney the older they get.

Robert deNiro would still get it. He's 50 years older than me.

I think there's more older movie stars I'm attracted to than young ones.

Jennifer anniston is in her 40's and IMO looks just as good as when she was 20!

Kim Novak, aged very well also. Here she is at 74 back in 2002.

Unfortunately, she has had a ten year fling with a plastic surgeon's knife since then.

are you on drugs? shes a wench

Helen Mirren is amazing looking, how old is she?

generally women just get a raw deal. First you have to live with periods, childbirth, etc in your prime then menopause hits and you grow a mustache and your tits fall to the floor.

Whenever my Mam sees a good looking woman over 50 she says 'She's never had children'. Maybe that's the secret. That or loads of money like Helen. God is she hot.

I dunno. I think the glow has gone off her. She looks like what she is, a well maintained 40 something who maybe overdoes the dieting and face creams. Back in her Friends heyday she was something else.

everybody does should they look after themselves and exercise, however i would argue all the years of make up/crap takes its toll on womens - surely. At the end of the day we were not designed to cover our faces in crap, unfortunately vanity rules the head, time has the last laugh though!!

    Topics covered in this thread:

Irish women vs women in other countries (usually Eastern Europe). Lazy stereotypes. "I went on a stag to Bratislava and etc etc". "I live in Oz and the older women are smoking hot". Irish women ugly, fat, lazy etc

Countered by men in other countries vs Irish men (less vocal). "Married a Spanish octogenarian and he's hot!" Irish men fat, ugly, lazy, drink too much etc

"Here comes the science" from one or two "informed posters" about plastic surgery rates/skin elasticity/lifestyle amongst cultures/nations/ethnic groups. Will obviously reference differences between hunter gatherer vs agricultural/post industrial cultures.

The picture brigade will educate us on hot men/women who smell of death but are still "hot".

Mod steps in and says "cool the jets".

Somehow, somewhere, abortion will enter the discussion.

    :)

    Haha!!:D

No they don't, but they tell each other they do all the time, and women fall victim of the opposite.

Most men who harp on about how older men are like fine wines blah blah, are middle aged men trying to get with/justifying getting with much younger women.

There are exceptions, but not nearly as many as some men have convinced themselves of.

I don't appreciate being hit on by someone 20 years my senior trying to impress me with his worldly wisdom and decades of experience.

This really makes me laugh. The amount of men in their late 50s and up who've cracked onto me over here (not being a big head....fellas my own age rarely do) thinking they have a chance. I'm having a coffee in the middle of the day and I get some fella with his belt fastened round his beer belly and comb over giving me a wink while the bar man tells me the coffee is paid for. Dear god. For the sheer comedy factor (and the free beverage ;)), it's worth it. They obviously believed the myth that men (generally) age grow old like a fine wine. Only the exceptional few do.

I didn't choose either. Both men and women can be attractive as they get older as long as they're strict about their diet and grooming regime and if they were good looking to begin with. And genes play a massive part too. Times are changing and it seems women have more money and time to spend on themselves than in the past. We've all got a shelf life though, even Brad Pitt et al.

Flawless youth is appealing but attractiveness isn't necessarily the reserve of the young.

Some big age gaps work really well, but you still hear the odd guy talk about how much he loves his wife 35 years his junior. If he loved her that much why would he condemn her to pushing his wheelchair or changing his diaper, possibly followed by 20 years of widowhood?

You do realise no one has to justify getting with younger people. Everyone is entitled to their personal tastes in the opposite sex or same sex if that's the case.

    Yes.

My guess is it's to do with chemicals. I think this is what I heard but I'm fairly ignorant on biology so could be well wrong: After the menopause, women stop producing estrogen, which is what makes them womanly. However, men continue producing testosterone so they retain their manliness. Is that correct or am I talking out of my arse?

Men start producing more Estrogen and women produce more Testosterone. We basically switch genders. My dad has taken to wearing flouncy purple silk shirts since he hit 70 and raises his pinky while drinking his tea.

Men do age better than women, I think... But you still can't beat Meryl Streep.

I think it's more individual really. In my own experience of people I actually know and see up close, I think the ladies edge it.

I don't think there's any point discussin celebs - god knows how much surgery they had!

Sally Field was on Sky yesterday looking amazing, but I'm sure it's not all natural.

I think it probably would be easier for men to age better but they usually don't. It's not that hard to cut back on the spuds, take an occasional walk and make an attempt to be reasonably well dressed.

I think the Universe levels the playing field a bit with male pattern baldness.

Men have alot better muscular definition throughout their lifes due to different biology characteristics. Women are obviously biologically designed to be most attractive during child bearing years. Men do not have this biological imperative. They are designed to age better and to defeat dinosaurs and to gather food and to look good doing so.

I have an acquaintance who just celebrated her 40th birthday and she doesn't look a day over 29. She is a stunner.

Likewise I know a guy who is in his early 30s and looks like he is pushing 45.

    Go figure...

indeed nature is crueler to women as time marches on i think but i think this is the price they pay for years of manipulating men. we are essentially dumb, neanderthals and the merest hint of the possibilty of sex has us as putty in their hands. i speculate a factor of the menopause is the loss of this powerful weapon and hence struggling to adjust to a world without it haha

Obviously , genes and lifestyle are a major factor !

All things being equal , men would not age as noticeably as women as they would retain their muscle definition more .

It's all about how much exposure you have to the sun. I know some girls in their mid-20's that have the skin of 90 year olds, waaaaaay too much sun.
Yep, that's why black folks generally age better and the darker the better. "Black don't crack" cos they've built in factor 15.

Yea it's defo down to the individual. Look at the current "Rachel", yer wan from the big bang theory, she's kinda gone downhill in the last few years, yet she's now the same age as Anniston was when Friends started.

Yea and blokes testosterone usually starts to drop off after around 30 and this drop increases if they're living with a woman, single men tend to have higher test which is interesting. Must dig up a few links. One theory has it that the drop in test is better for a couple raising kids.
They are designed to age better and to defeat dinosaurs and to gather food and to look good doing so.
Not unless he's got a DeLorean with a flux capacitor handy :D

Original topic? Individuals vary a lot, regardless of gender. Indeed the best figure I ever encountered on a lady was a woman of 41. Utterly amazeballs., a word I've never used before and pray to never use again.. :D Gender wise? Men overall have the slight edge. They've thicker skin and underlying skin structures. While they do suffer drop off in hormone production and fertility, this is not as bookended as in women. Plus signs of aging in men are less judged biologically and culturally, likely because of the biological diffs. Basically what is considered physically attractive in women is much more related to biological and fertility age than it is in men.

That said men have maybe a decade headstart as a very vague yardstick. So a 40 year old bloke may be roughly equal to a 30 year old woman. Plus as has been pointed out most men don't stay in good shape(inc mentally). Bald guys claiming Connery or Stewart as their own are kinda having a laugh. Hairy or bald those blokes are far better looking than most men. Ditto for Clooney. "Oh I've got grey hair I'm like George". Eh no you ain't. Nice delusion, but a delusion nonetheless.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

They might look good but what's the point looking good when they can't even keep it up. Or hold an erection for more than 30 seconds. Useless, the lot of them.
