Need to downgrade software on iphone 3gs

Hi, just wondering how I go about downgrading iPhone 3gs software? My phone is currently using IOS 6.01. The personal hotspot is gone and will only return with IOS 5.01 apparently? Is this true? Any reason why the personal hotspot is gone with the IOS 6.01? Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Mugatuu :cool:
