Just something that struck me

Walt spent roughly 4 days in the desert making Meth, managed to make 40 pounds which he sold for $1.2 Million

So is it not a fairly ****e offer from the black guy of $3 Million for 3 months?

Yep, as Jesse points out in a later episode, they’re getting screwed but it’s the only option they have unless they try to move it themselves on the street, something Walt wants to avoid after the whole Tuco situation

Then there was also the fact that they used up all their supply of whatever was in the barrel to make the 40 pounds, so if Walt were to continue cooking himself, they'd have to steal more (therefore, more risk).

Working for Gus was the safe bet. With his cancer in remission, he was no longer under such pressure to get as much money as he could before he died. He could work with Gus, someone he knew to be very cautious, without having to worry about distribution, cooking in the RV etc. Overall, it was less money, but it was also the best way to continue making great money, have less risk and still get the rush and ego-boost he begins to crave from being Heisenberg, the meth cook.

It was explained down the line, that while working for Gus, they where getting only 15% (I think) of the total profits. Which Jesse wasn't happy about but Walt explaining it was the safest way of doing it.
