I grew up in the country in a big hurling parish and my house was near the local pitch. I've never played a competitive game of gaa at any level, and never went to a match.
Was it a case of the nearest to the church, the furthest from god ?

How could a minute on this planet be boring?

You should try working my job for a minute.

... yeah, I'm fairly sure it was the other guy who invented this kind of work.

As the saying goes, only boring people get bored :)

What kind of people, according to the sayings, are easily amused? :D

its called EMPATHY , just work forward from that

EMPATHY goes both ways. Endless stories about how your bundle of joy managed to take two steps unaided are probably exciting from your point of view but for the love of God, have a little empathy for the rest of us. :D

Consider the your above to refer to any random excited parent. When the person you are talking to looks like a deer trapped in the glare of headlights and then their eyes start to glaze over and finally you can actually see the will to live draining out of them, show a little compassion and stop talking about your kids :)

There are people I know who are on the dole and just sit around at home all day doing nothing. By nothing I mean watching tv. And perhaps having a few cans. They never do anything else. And could easily get a job if they tried. (Loads of hotel jobs in this town)

Maybe they don't find it boring. I don't know.

    I hate doing nothing.

What qualifies as not having a boring life?

Having read numerous posts in the "having a child" thread where it was mentioned that people with boring lives have kids to fill the void.

I'm curious what people classify as a boring life.

Having kids, a 9-5 job, 8 pints at the weekend, a 2 week holiday to a Spanish resort, having a wedding that resembles every other wedding, being safe in everything, punching a ticket til you turn 65 and can retire.

That said, I'm probably far more boring than I realise myself, but won't know it until I'm past time.

Pills, powders and potions can make an alright time unforgettable, or is that forgettable? No boredom anyway that's a promise, I think???

I ooze negativity out of every pore, I wallow in it! :pac: Maybe not so much procrastination. But anyways I was actually just thinking this week that if there's ever a reason not to have kids, not to create another being and bring any children into this world like me boring and bored is the reason! I feel bored mostly every second of every minute!! :( But I was reading a women's magazine last night while eating a yummy Toastie, and came across a quote; "Never set aside something for a special occasion, as LIFE is a special occasion." I just thought it was lovely. :) It made me want to cry. :(

you see,i see people like that as the type who do nothing but talk about their children and live boring lives. They want to share everything their child does, says and achieves.I don't give two shit's about anybody's child. When parents speak to me about their children the first thing i think is "so what".

I can see it myself among friends and family - having babies/young children takes up most of your day. One of my friends spends most of her day breast feeding her son right now and trying to get him to sleep and grab a few hours sleep herself. That's her life right now. That's her news, so of course she's going to talk about it. Our mothers did it too and thank fook they did, eh? They're not boasting, they're telling you their news.

You're life is boring if you're constantly bored but don't do anything to change it. It differs from person to person. Being busy doesn't equate to having an exciting life.

im not talking about my kids , and dont , unless asked.
i know who would be interested in listening to tales of my kids,
i would not put others through that - but in fairness , im of a age where the majority of my age group have grown up , stopped being sniveling whinging students with first world problems , so they would have kids , so its a mutual interest , so not boring to the people having the conversation.

so once again the student heavy AH , turns a thread about boredom into a i hate kids thread. such cynicism in the "younger" generation is a bit sad really.
talk about reverting to type

You lot dont give a **** about our kids ? great !!! I equally dont give a **** about whatever the **** you do , but im not going on line whinging about you

    you really must be boring

( not directed at anyone , but directed at everyone - can we not just go back to kicking civil servants and hating cats ? :D: )

Too many people think the opposite of boring is getting drunk at the same bars/clubs/pubs each week.

    A blast off the shotgun

Driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed

Being out in the fresh air

    Working on a pet project

    Travelling and meeting new people

Riding a nice byor whos on the pill so she wont have kids that will put a damper on it all

    And so on.

Taking a dump on a footpath in the small hours, wiping with toilet paper and leaving it beside the sh*it.

Then going back in daylight to see if it's still there and observe people's reactions.

Katie Taylor's voice is exceptionally boring. Great boxer, but that droning, monotone voice is positively narcoleptic to listen to.

In fairness, I find many sportspeople fall into this category, though.

Who wants to be cured. 99% do it and the other 1% that say they don't are liars.

What qualifies as not having a boring life?

Having read numerous posts in the "having a child" thread where it was mentioned that people with boring lives have kids to fill the void.

I'm curious what people classify as a boring life.

I don't have a boring life. My life has always been hectic, partly because I made it so. I had a child because I had a yearning to have one since I was a teenager - it was pure instinct. I postponed it as long as possible in order to study, work on my career, get set up financially, travel, get married, buy a house, etc... Now that I have the most wonderful child, my life is more enriched and busier than ever.

I would classify a boring life as someone who has never even moved from their parents' home, never moved from their village/town/county, never travelled, with limited interests, no goals and little or no desire to take any risks in any area of life. However, as has been mentioned, what's boring to one person is interesting to another...

I recommend writing a "bucket list". It's a great way to think about what you want and encourage yourself to do it, particularly if you set deadlines, e.g. "do a bungee jump before I'm 28", etc.

There's a great poem called somthing along the lines of "Said reader to rider". Next time you are at a show, concert, event, watching TV, wonder which you are. Are you watching, or are they watching you? If you are one side of the barrier, you're a reader, reading/watching people living stuff, if you are on the other side of the barrier, you're a rider, doing stuff and being watched..
I went surfing this year, first time ever - scared me sh1tless, waves seemed like skyscrapers, but I was riding, not reading. I also bought a race car, for the same reason. I want to die riding. And for you down the back, sniggering, I know, but rideings fun, right?

Some people are bored more easily than others.

You mightn't do much but you enjoy your life but other people could look at you and think you have a boring life.

There's no list of things you have to do in order to not have a boring life.

I've about a 5 minute attention span. That makes for a lot of boredom and a lot of adrenaline. It can be quite fun.

There is, it's called the bucket list. The wise ones don't wait till they're dying.
