PSU suggestions for Dell XPS 420

Hi guys can you recommend a suitable PSU replacement for Dell XPS 420 - a customer dropped it in today complaining that it would shut off randomly during gaming.

Sure enough I fired up Spec Ops: The Line (at max settings) and played for a while and was able to replicate the problem only this time the PSU dies in a puff of smoke and it trips the fusebox switch!

Its packing a HD 5770 GDDR5 and current power was 375 watts - my theory is that this wasnt enough to power the system looking at the spec of the XPS 420 I can see that there is no 5770 included in the setup, so the user was rather ambitious putting this card in an under powered system.

Could I pick up a replacement from hardversand? Is there any specific things to look out for? The current PSU is rather beefy!

Another thing to note the PSU was scorching during gameplay.

My only reservation is that the cable harness from the PSU might not be long enough.

Are you ordering other stuff from HWVS as well? Delivery's a bit steep for just a PSU.

I'd go with something like this:

Maplins have decent XFX PSU's in stock now, and they're really well priced considering Maplins usual asking - cheaper than even their rubbish own brand 'gaming' PSUs. It was in and around 50 euro for a 550w - not bad when you factor in shipping costs from buying online.

PC World also sell Corsair 430w PSU's for under 50, also another option if either of those two stores are close to you.

The customer will pay for the PSU so I don't mind using HWVS for one item.

I hear Corsair are a great brand, I can get to PC World or Maplin easily enough do you reckon 430w is sufficient? Can you have too much wattage?
