VW Warranty cover question

    Hi folks,

We have a 4 yr old VW which is out of its warranty period.

A fault occurred during the warranty period which was repaired under warranty, no problem.

However the exact same fault has now reoccurred - we were initially told that because it's a reocurrence of a fault that happened under warranty, it should still be covered and no charge. However now that they've looked at it, we are told we will be billed for labour etc.

Anyone any experience with this and let me know should the same fault still be covered under the warranty?

    Thanks!

Excluding normal maintenance or wear and tear items all genuine VW parts come with a 2 year warranty so if the part has failed inside 2 years it should be covered. What is the problem that you are having?

In Theory the warranty on any repair expires the day the warranty expires .
So if you had a replacement part fitted fitted under warranty one week before the warranty expired and it failed again one week after the warranty expiry date thats it your warranty is up.

In practice most manufacturers will offer some kind of goodwill just depends on the problem or cause but they are not legally obliged to cover .

That is only true if the part is purchased by the customer and does not apply to items replaced under manufacturers warranty

Any item that fails and is hence repaired under a warranty automatically resets the warranty period for that specific part.
