    Hi

I was on the National VRT calculator website : https://www.ros.ie
I was calculating the cost of bringing in a Ford Focus 2009 1.6 petrol model. In one of the drop down box options I had to select the Version such as Zetec or Ghia etc. I saw there was two Zetec 99bhp 5dr options listed. I ran the calculator twice selecting each of them and got 2 different amounts. One was 2500 euro and the other was 2100 euro.

What is the difference in each of these? How do I know which one to select for a given car I see advertised?

Can't answer your specific question Op but in my experience there are a few quirks in the system. I had this experience a few years ago when importing a BMW. Be sure to print off the lowest quote. Back then at least they had to honour the printed qoute if it was less than 14 days old. This saved me €800 but that was back in the days when Revenue were collecting the cash and may have been less switched on about cars than the NCT crowd.

Check that the emissions number in the quote matches that for the vehicle. There may be two models with two different levels of emissions.

The 1.6 Zetec was available with the standard 100bhp engine and the 115bhp engine in the UK, both are different which could explain it.

OP did mention that he was looking at the 99bhp version Bazz.
Sometimes the VRT site can be a nightmare as they either don't list the particular model you are looking for, or as in this case, thay include the same model more than once (with different market values ????)
