wicklori, we're due the same time too aren't we??? Are you in mount carmel or am I mixing you up with someone else?

re breast feeding. I plan to do it but I am not going to be a tortured martyr about it. If it happens, great and if it doesn't, that's ok too. Me and my siblings werent breastfed and we've all been very healthy as kids and adults (touch wood). I'm definitely not buying a pump until I know the breastfeeding is going well. I think you're not really meant to pump for the first few weeks anyway so it's not that urgent.

Oh girls, enjoy your lunch on the 2nd :(....it's so funny to think of you all there comparing bumps!

I plan on breastfeeding and its the topic in week 4 of my ante natal classes so im looking forward to it as its the one thing im really nervous about. I know B'feeding is not easy and is very demanding on you, i'd would love to hear peoples reasoning's behind wanting to b'feed and wanting to formula feed. i want to feed myself and express so will see how it goes. I am open minded about it and if it doesn't work for me i wont get too caught up about it.

My mam was a bit taken back by the fact i wanted to feed myself, but i think it was a more selfish thing on her part but in a good way hahaha i think she's afraid she wont get to mind her grandchild as much as she wants :)

Oh I guess I should have used different wording - I don't see much difference between breastfeeding and feeding from a bottle with expressed milk, as in both cases the baby gets natural milk. I just found it strange that people opt for something artificial as a first choice, not even trying to feed the baby with natural milk. I just think that anything natural is better than anything artificial :) Anyway it's just my opinion, and if I don't have enough milk or not able to express/breastfeed, I will go for the formula with no problems :)

    That's me!:)
I'd be a bit the same about breastfeeding. I want to try and OH is big into breastfeeding-where he comes from it's automatic so he can't understand there being any question about it. I'm going to give it a try because the general consensus seems to be breast is best and all that but if it doesn't work so be it too.... Enough things to be worrying about is how I see some of these things.
I'll see what I can get for Jamies. Is there still 4 of us? How would 12:30 be for everyone??

I would be of the exact same opinion as you, i'll try b'feeding/expressing and if its not working or babys not getting enough i will use formula without hesitation. For me the benefits of b'feeding outweigh the benefits of formula and at least i can say i tried b'feeding if it doesn't work out!

    hi girlies!

    I work on Sat mornings!!
    I can't make the 12.30pm time slot :-( :-(
    I could make 2pm though.

Would you mind if we could possibly change at all? To 2pm?
No problems at all if you can't or doesn't suit or something....

Defo going to Breastfeed, for sure. And like you guys, if it doesn't work then sure what can you do...
Also heard about those statistics for Ireland, I believe it is an old religious belief that got passed down through DNA and what not, that having your child suck the most natural way, the most natural liquid life, the most beneficial food for a baby... was wrong and unreligious... Don't get me started!!! LOL!! How backward are us Irish in so many ways!! In Europe, 80% of woman breastfeed, in Ireland 20%.... unreal... helllooooo, it's nothing unreligious, in fact it's more so!! Anyways...
.....hope we can all manage to feed great nutrition from our loverly boobies... and if not, so as you said, at least we tried :-)

Don't think you need breast pump yet wicklori, until you know that feeding from boobie works!

    2pm suits me too :-)

I just had an embarrassing encounter with been too big!! The car park spaces in the work car park are tight enough, the car that parked beside me parked a little too close and I couldn't fit into my car just now! Went into reception and asked my friend who is tiny to reverse the car but she was up to her eyes so sent me out to the guy doing the car washes. I was absolutely mortified having to ask him but there was no way I was gonna fit in!

I was already feeling enormous as my dress just feels way to tight on me across my chest arms and back and im mosning about it all morning (to myself of course) and to top it all off the above happened.

Baby has been on the move pretty much all day for the last two days I'm wondering would this be a growth spurt as I've defo expanded and he has me wrecked tired kicking me around the place :-)

    Elly that's so familiar! Hahahaha!
I'm afraid I will get stuck one day between tables in a cafe during lunch, so every time we go for lunch I ask whoever is with me to sit at the furthest seat, so that I don't have to squeeze in there! :)

Done! I mightn't be able to stay very long at that stage unfortunately but I'll see what I can do.... Looking forward to meeting you guys!
I too have gotten stuck getting out of my car in a parking space..... Mortifying and scary- wedged between the door and the car!! Yikes!

I think we've all done this now. I feel massive and very uncomfortable at the mo. Funny though, someone asked me this morning when I was due and i said in 7 weeks and they thought I was tiny. Was thrilled with myself! :)

Am dying to get the spare room painted this weekend so I can start to unpack things and wash the babys clothes etc.

I'm painting the Box room this Sunday too Yellow Hen!!
Going for Brilliant White and then I might add a border at a later stage ... so just simple, fresh and clean.
Got the 'nesting' on the go....!!
Been washing and drying a load of bits and bobs - blankets, moses basket linen, baby clothes, etc etc... things that friends have passed on to me ... a ton of washing!! Put Elly to shame, LOL!

Great for Sat 2nd... Looking forward!! Is it 2pm in Jamies then as a final arrangement?

    Hi Ladies,

Hope your all keeping well and had a lovely weekend :)
Nursery is painted :D loving the colour we went with a light blue, we both love it!

Will get the baby's clothes washed this weekend and then I've about 5 or 6 little things to get for hosp bags, have them pretty much packed and would manage if the little one was to arrive any time soon :)

    Hi all,

we painted last weekend as well Elly. Just went with white and a pale cream but I love it. I need another pair of pj's and some large mama pants but otherwise I'm also good to go I think! I washed the baby things at the weekend too....was so cute to see them all drying on the rads :) Someone asked me when I was due yest and I heard myself say '6 weeks' (6 from this thurs!)...I got such a shock to realise that it really is that close! Am in hospital this Thursday but was also at GP last week and baby is still head down. Apaprently I am totally dehydrated and need to drink more. I wasnt suprised at that though as I am truly awful at drinking water.

    How's everyone else?

    Hey girlies!
    Painted the box room too!
    All white and fresh.
Got a moses basket from a friend and baby linen and blankies so was washing the moses basket linen and all the other bits... and then drying ....all weekend too!

Also got a shock when I realised baby could be here in 6 or 7 weeks... WOW, how did that happen??!!??!!!???

Still haven't done the hospital bag bit yet but I did pick up the SuperValue EU mom pack this evening :-) really cute little bottles of things in there and some tea! Great!

No 2:30 I changed it to.... Sat 2nd in Jamies in Dundrum. Dying to meet you ladies :D:)

Met a friend of mine the other day with her babs who's 2 months old and was pumping her for info. The big thing I took away from her was that nightdresses are best in case for any reason end up with a cathether (she had some damage downstairs....) and can't wear pj bottoms-I was a bit struck by this as I LOVE my jamas!

She is going to loan me her TENS machine, don't know if any of you have given that any thought but she found it good, especially for the car journey up which will be the same for me.

Scan next tuesday, don't think baby has turned so not sure what the conversation will be then..... Had terrible pains on sunday and decided I was going into labour.... Wasn't of course!

We're continuing with the house buying saga-really don't know if I need the stress anymore!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 167 ✭✭Lilbe

Hey girls, we painted the room ages ago, it's a green for us, and what we did recently is put the wooden floors in the baby room. So the only thing left is to put borders on the walls (already got them, just need to put them on), and then we can put in furniture etc.!

I didnt sleep well at all last night i was awake from about 4am :( But for the time i did sleep i actually had a dream that we met in Jamie's and it was so funny and slightly weird some ppl had their husbands and kids with them even tho im pretty sure the 4 of us meeting up are first timers :D:D:D:D

Im starting to get back pain on and off and even though its not really bad the first thing ya think of is 'oh god is this it, is it gonna happen soon' as much as i cant wait to meet my little man i dont want him to arrive any earlier than 36 weeks as i think im scarred i wont have the precious mummy time with him straight away and he will have to be rushed away from me.

I had my second ante natal class last night, driving there straight from work i was wrecked and i really just wanted to go home to bed but really enjoyed it felt i learnt a lot about the pain relief etc and they passed around the TENS machine, midwife said its great for early labour at home and some people find it brilliant for the first stage.
I was always of the opinion that as soon as labour starts you go to the hospital but midwife was saying unless your really scared or an anxious person stay at home in the comfort of your own home and occupy yourself until your pains are 5mins apart lasting 30 seconds or more that's only of course providing the waters haven't gone and i suppose your distance from the hosp. Finding the classed very interesting i must say.
