I wonder if one of those "signings" is Walcott?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,713 ✭✭✭keano_afc

Michael Johnson has just been released by City, thats one.

Then we'll be told in August that we don't need a midfield signing because Johnson and Diaby will anchor it all season, with Rosicky ahead of them in the hole.

I always skip past his ramblings about the previous nights dream. Found myself just scrolling through the whole blog. Strange one

I used to love ArseBlog, but lately their quality has plummeted. Sometimes I read their player ratings and wonder what game they were watching.

I still fine Arseblog excellent, in general the articles are good, I think Tim Stillman is an excellent addition. The 'special' player ratings thing he does are daft, a one liner of English would be better. Most of the ramblings I just skip, but the skits on the arsecast I generally enjoy!

I still find myself checked arseblog news 10 times a day to see if we have signed....:(

I think Walcott was worse than 'ineffective due to lack of supply' on Sunday, the lack of touches indicates a lack of intelligent movement, or that he just lost the ball a lot. Was going to go back through the match and analyse his play but I couldn't bare it.

Hope we see some rotation tomorrow team I would put out

    Sez
    Jenks. Mert. Verm. Santos
    Coq. Ramsey
    Ox. Eisfield. Rosicky
    Giroud

I no it's prob our second team and the fa cup is prob the only trophy we can win, but the lads look knackered and need a break

I would love to give the centre halfs a break but all we have is squallici ( thanks arsene)

Cazorla and Wilshere have to be rested. We've already ran Arteta into the ground because despite Arsene insisting we have two players for every position he doesn't trust any of his back ups. We can't afford to do the same with Jack and Santi.

No need to rest Walcott tomorrow night.
He got enough rest on Sunday.
Needs a boot in the hole before the game to wake him up.

Should of just sold him and got our money back on him because lets face it if he doesnt improve the technical side of his game he just wont be good enough for Arsenal F.C. especially in big games he will be found wanting.

Are we going to sign some players ffs. I think Squallaci should get a run tomorrow I dont rate him at all but I think he was never given a fair shake of it by Wenger. He needs gametime if hes to be involved with suspensions/injuries? I seen Wenger say hes allowed leave but surely we need a 4th CB ? Dont know why we got rid of Bartley either.

I'd expect a win tomorrow but it all depends on the teams both sides have out. Swansea have a big cup semi final coming up so they may rest players.

Hes more than good enough for Arsenal these days. We cant sell everyone, come on lads. We should be buying players better than him and keeping him.

For me if we dont get 2 first XI signings we dont get 4th. We wont get the goals we got last year from RVP.

The LB situation needs sorting. Ship Santos out, Gibbs needs benching. A new LB in who can do a job there. An out and out goalscorer, and a dominant experienced head in midfield are needed. 2/3 is the bare minimum.

Its a real eye opener to see how standards and even some fans expectations have dropped at the club, a few saying it was a great result to draw away to Swansea. I totally agree with your post but I think we need at least 4/5 new players and I mean players that have some real quality. Ill be honest I cant even see us finishing 5th with this team we just lack the class and consistency to go on a good run.

If we as Arsenal fans aren't convinced by Peps credentials, we need to have our heads examined. imo

In fairness John Giles made a good point when he said that the real hungry and successful managers like Ferguson, Shankly, etc are fanatical and never feel the need to take a break from the game and whether you like him or not I think he has a point.

Also the real great managers take teams from nothing to the pinnacle. United were a middle of the road and inconsistent side whereas Liverpool were in the old division 2 when Ferguson and Shankly respectively took over. Barca on the other hand had won the ECL in 06, la liga in 05 and 06 under Riijkard so he had all the ingredients for more success. Granted he did give them a real cutting edge but would Pep have been able to do the job Arsene Wenger has done at Arsenal with the resources at his disposal? If Barcelona stresses him out then id hate to see the effect Arsenal would have on him

Granted Guardiola brought workrate into Barca's play but overall i think the raw ingredients were there. Xavi, Messi, and Iniesta were all European cup winning players and in the case of Xavi and Iniesta, were European Championship winning players before Pep took over

Just by listening to that interview with Wenger, it seems he's a big fan of Ibra. Shame he never got to sign him that time.

He's the most effective player in our squad in terms of assists and goals at the moment. If he's not good enough, we surely need to disband the whole thing and start again.

It's a shame you can't half thank a post as I disagree that Gibbs needs benching

I'm just not a massive fan of Gibbs at LB, he makes alot of errors. I dont think our formation helps because I dont think the front 3 protect the full backs like you would say at say United. Gibbs will be good enough in a few years, like Jenkinson though hes just not fully there yet IMO. Its a shame Santos went badly I thought he was good at the start.

I'm don't know anyone who thought it was a "great" result - based on Swansea's current form it certainly wasn't a bad one though.

Problem for our FBs is that the lack of support left and right side of mid leaves them isolated a lot, they often track the loose man only for the second right/left sided oposition player to come in behind, in most formations there are 2 left and 2 right defending, for us its Gibbs being cover by Podolski and Sagna being covered by Oxo, two naturally attacking players, this makes them look worse than they are

Sorry but this is way off the mark. Walcott is plenty good enough and some of the criticism he has gotten on here is ludicrous.

Actually I seem to remember you were similarly critical about Alex Song previously and look how that turned out, as the saying goes sometimes you dont know what you got till its gone!

Mertesecker, Jenkinson and Podolski are the players getting a raw deal at the minute in my view.

Walcott has been good for us so far this season but I just don't think he is as good as some people on here are making him out to be (or as good as he thinks he is himself). He is good in certain situations and I think he/we have been lucky that he has been allowed to get into those situations by certain teams and he has taken a lot of those opportunities.

However, he is nowhere near as good as any of our recent front men and I don't think playing him as a lone central forward will get us anywhere. If he is able to get one on one with a keeper, a lot of the time he will score but it is far too easy for good defenders to keep him out of the game. He has also been far too greedy recently and instead of passing to team mates in better positions, he has wasted the opportunity.

If we changed our formation and allowed him to play off Giroud, he could prove very valuable to us. However, in the current formation he is not the answer and it could cost us dearly if we try to rely on him solely. The current pandering to his wants is already starting to cost us i.e. him taking free kicks in goal scoring areas and if this is allowed to continue we will regret it soon.

I would like to keep him in general, but I just don't think he is irreplaceable and certainly would not be during the summer.

I don't think people in here can be accused of that!

Song has been voted the worst signing this season in La Liga I dont think we miss him at all, the thing is we never really replaced him as in signing a proper DMF we just used Arteta as a stop gap in that position. How many goals had RVP got for us this time last season about 20 was it, thats what were missing this season not Song. The thing with us is we sell real world class players and replace them with potential and and lately more times than not is that these players turn out not good enough.

Another thing is why did we even sign Giroud? Dont get me wrong I rate him as a very good centre forward but by jaysus we dont play to his strenghts at all, feel sorry for him at times as he gets no service whatsoever and then drops too deep and just trys to hard to make an impression he is another player we are going to ruin alongside Chamakh 2 baffling signings considering the way we play.

Alot wont agree but I think we should of signed Berbatov, he a genuinely class player that would of scored plenty of goals for us.
