Very strong chance Ba will start from the bench vs Southampton according to the times.

wouldn't be too disappointed if he does tbh. Mata outscoring him is way more important to me

Hopefully he comes on and scores, could really do with some extra points this week. Worst case scenario Torres scores...

I'd go so far as to say I'm hoping he stays on the bench now. A good percentage of people went with Ba captain, including some in my league and I really don't want him scoring :p

I'm hoping for the same. A 2-1 victory for Chelsea with Torres scoring two Mata assisted goals would suit me.

Then some randomer for Saints like Rodriguez scoring and Lambert doing nothing.

My two main rivals have Ba captained and have Chelsea defenders so I could skip well ahead if Torres scored and Mata got some points without Chelsea keeping a clean sheet.

Not only does it look like he's starting on the bench, but Rafa seems to have doubts over his ability to play 90 minutes in quick succession due to his injury record.

I feel even more justified in not getting him in for the DGW.

I will get sick if he comes on and bangs 2 in during the last 15 minutes of the game though.

I can't watch that link from the press conference right now, did he give any clear indication on his rotation policies for the next few weeks? Will Cahill be available, will Terry play? Most importantly will Mata start tomorrow night, I was delighted to see him come off on saturday as it seemed like a positive indication that he would be expected to play again on Wed, I'd like to see Luiz back in midfield also, surely with the congestion at the back and the ACON situation this will happen?

Yep, chalk up another bad decision for me! Think it was worth the risk with Ba though, although it's annoying to see Fellaini get 6 points and Puncheon already on 3 with another game to play.

Just hope he doesn't come on for a few minutes and do nothing. If he doesn't play at all tonight I'm not sure what I'll do as he may just be getting rested. After the Arsenal game Chelsea have Reading, Newcastle and Wigan.

Ba scored 2 against BOTH Wigan and Reading earlier this season, and will be fired up for the Newcastle game. I'd be worried about dropping him ahead of these fixtures.

Ba in for this gameweek was a decent decision you get a nice price rise out of him plus he was guarenteed minimum one start and a substitute appearance. Going forward if Ba was to play every week he would be the first player in my team. However theres a huge chance he will be rotated add in the fact Mata can give you Chelsea attacking cover theres probably better options out there.

Very scared to use the word luck here:D but can I say us Mata capt owners (including me) were fortunate that he had such a big points haul?

He registered one shot and the own goals were poxy. Questionable penalty and stats wise 4-0 was not reflective of the game.

oh well evens out I suppose, other weeks u could have a guy with 10+ shots getting nada:rolleyes:

Benitez on Ba fitness: "He is fine, we know we have to manage him. He was training today and was fine" http://goo.gl/OJswv

I will be stunned if he starts though...

He only got the assist for the second one. The first one he could have scored if it didn't go in. But overall I take your point.

Boselli scores for Wigan in the cup replay, he was the hotly tipped new foreign signing of a few years back for fpl that then flopped

Disaster week for me, especially after playing my WC. I couldn't afford Mata and prioritized other midfielders (for long term plans). So I went with Ba as my captain while most of my rivals captained Mata. Needless to say most of my problems come from those two players.

Really need Ba to start tonight, even if it's to get another 2 appearance points.

Hopefully Benitez sees sense now and wont rest Mata after his performance in the last game! Would love for Mata to get another double digit score:D Have Ba too but as long as Mata does well im not too bothered how he does as most who haven't captained Mata wil have captained him!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

I have both Mata and Ba (and Luiz).

Hopefully Chelsea keep a clean sheet, so many people around me have Mata as captain I don't think him performing will boost me too much. Not sure what I want from Ba.

Main thing is Torres not performing.

If I were Benitez, I'd be going for Southamptons throats early and start Hazard, Mata and Ba, get 3 up and take off Mata and/or Hazard for Arsenal on Sunday.

But that won't happen of course. He'll probably start Torres, rest Mata and Ba, and then bring on both when they are struggling at 0-0 on 70 minutes

Rafa - doing things the hard way since forever.

EUROSPORT are predicting Ba and Mata starting though...

I could really do with Chelsea conceding! I had Azpil in my team until the last minute last week and transferred him out for Gibbs! that worked out well:rolleyes: I dont think i could live with that decision if he keeps another CS ha!

I agree though, captaining Mata might not have too much of an effect overall but hopefully it will get me through to the next stage of the FSA Cup! If ba comes on for a 2 pointer so be it, i have him also but Torres scoring doesn't really bother me as i wouldn't imagine too many people still have him! He has over 13% ownership i know but a lot of those are probably ghost teams, most serious players would realise by now he is pants and have shipped him!

Any reason Eurosport are predicting that?

I didn't think Ba's knees would stand up to two games in a week.

Although my slight worry is that Torres was man of the match earlier in the season against Arsenal so Benitez may hold him over.

Ba on the bench, Mata double points, a Cole assist, and a Clyne goal in a 3-1 would do me fine.

that's even though I have Ba.

Anyone know if Cahill is likely to be playing tonight? I would assume so, but I have 6 points coming off the bench for him if he doesn't so I'm hoping he won't :o

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Personally I am predicting the same but with Torres replacing Ba. I don't know WHERE Chelsea got the idea that Ba isn't up for playing 2 games in 4 days. he did it for Newcastle often enough.

Lads, can ye imagine if Mata gets 2 goals, an assist, 3 baps and a clean sheet and Ba stays on the bench...there'd be mayhem lol. Mata (c) = 62, Ba (c) = 4

I'd say the servers will explode at around 6.45 pm when the teams are announced.

Ba was always the risky captain choice, so in a way, I have little sympathy for those who captained him.

if those players didn't have Mata, I have some sympathy. but even then, Mata should have been a priority transfer, certainly by this week.

if you don't have him, or you have him and didn't captain him, you were taking quite the risk IMO.

Has he though? I didn't think he featured in many Europa League or League cup games this year.

Granted, neither competition is one I pay much attention to.

He's done a few times this season .

    25/11/12 Southampton
    28/11/12 Stoke
    Played 90 mins both .

    22-12-12 Qpr
    26/12/12 Man Utd
    29/12/12 Arsenal
Played 90 mins in 2 and 72 in the other .

This is what happened me. I was in a position where I could only afford him by getting rid of Bale. But I want to keep Bale long term, so I got rid of Silva, and got Lamps. That actually worked out, in that Lamps did well, however I captained Ba. So it's been a bad week, compounded by the fact that Bale did nothing. And now I'm terrified that Ba will be rested, and Mata will do more damage.

Yeah I have no idea where this is coming from. He's always had knee issues but nothing has exactly flared up recently. Other than a few cryptic comments from Benitez I can't see where all this talk of him needing a rest is coming from.

Also, I'm not sure why people with Ba want to see him rested. I have him and really want him to start. Granted some people have him as captain but others don't have him at all. I'm more interested in seeing whether he starts or comes on at all as it will massively affect whether I hold on to him (and have two FT's next week) or make a move for Fellaini this week which will cost me 4 points.

A Chelsea CS and a goal each from Ba and Mata tonight with Ba getting taken off after 65 mins would do me perfectly.

What's this based on though? Have I missed something or is there concrete evidence stating he's very unlikely to start?
