Grant Vortex 50/90 condenser boiler , i plumbed up a 5litre drum with marks every half litre and I got the following readings:
    Heating 1hr 1 3/4 litres, 2nd hr 3/4 litre total for 2hr straight 2 1/2 litres
Hot water 1hr just over 3/4 of a litre
Using it wit a stove wit back boiler 2 * 30min boosts 1 litre

So it's nearly as cheap to leave the boiler on for 4 hrs a day *7 .90c = €25
Than fuelling a stove wit back boiler, coal €16.50 + timber + briquettes

How dose this compear to others readings...

Get timber for free and fuel your stove with either just timber or a small bit of coal and timber

Not hard to get free timber you just need to cut to suit your stove

And the best way to do it is 1/2 hour to a hour boiler and use the stove to maintain the heat

    Bazmac35 -that's very interesting.

Just wondering how many rads do you heat?
I'm assuming that when you have your heating on it heats the hot water at the same time or is that an additional 3/4 l per hr on top of the 1 3/4 ?
Obviously it's a lot more efficient to leave heating on for a few hours rathe than turning it on and off at one hour intervals.
