Is Mary the original Eve from the bible?

    Hi

I am new to this forum and wish to ask a question regarding our Blessed Lady.

Firstly, I would just like to say that I class myself as an open minded Christian, or in other words when I question any part of my faith Ialways look to the bible for answers.

I downloaded an audio version of the bible and love to listen to sections whilst at work. My personal favourite is Mathew’s gospel.

Having listened to Genesis a few times I’m fairly sure that I am not the first or the last person to try and look deeper into the fall of Adam and Eve.

    Okay, so here’s my question.

Do you think that our blessed lady is the original Eve and as a form of punishment is trapped between dimensions?

I am a firm believer of the visions at Medjugorje and our Lady’s message is always to bring her “children” to Jesus. She often appears weeping and pleading for prayers.

I have a lot more to add to this thesis but firstly would welcome some opinion from others.

PS. apologies for any poor grammar above, I don’t claim to be a scholar, just a spiritual person trying to get closer to Jesus.

No, I think Eve is Eve, and Mary is Mary. There's nothing Scriptural to say that they are the same person or that there's something about "being trapped between dimensions" involved.

Trapped between dimensions? I'm gonna have to side philologos here.

Makes as much sense as any other interpretation, OP.

Definately not, you can't just invent parts yourself.

Maybe you don't realise but dimensions are things like length, width, height, depth, time. You can't be trapped in a dimension. That's science fiction not religion.

Mary is the New Eve- the Mother of the race of Christians. Eve is Eve and Mary is Mary- but there are also "types" in Scripture which what I think your man is trying to say.

This is a very ancient Christian idea.

"The knot of Eve's disobedience was loosened by Mary's obedience. The bonds fastened by the virgin Eve through disbelief were untied by the virgin Mary through faith." (Against Heresies ,3:22).

    When was that rule added?

A lot of the bible came from stories that were around at the time and were written in different ways by each of its authors.

I agree with types by the by. Jesus in some ways is a type of Moses, John the Baptist of Elijah and so on.

Including the sci-fi sounding stuff is off though. Mary in some ways might be like Eve but she is not Eve.

That's not the same as what the OP is arguing.

    Try this:

    2 Peter 1:20-21

20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

The pope decides and you agree. You can't make up this for yourself. The pope has to make it up and you have to believe what he says.

They are the only two virgins I know of to have to have borne flesh.

The sinning virgin and the redeeming virgin. Then again I'm not so the believing kind.

Indeed- I missed just how actually crazy the OP is.

I think that the OP's question has largely been answered and as the thread is attracting trollish posts, I'm closing this.
