I was off for over 2 1/5 weeks!!!

With work being quiet, am back working only 3 days so might get out this week depending on the weather!! The only good side to this recession!

Played palmerstown today. Very wet off the fairways but the greens were in great nick. Bunkers out of play as usual. Rained for the first nine but stopped for the back which was nice. Scored 28 points off 24. Good round considering the elements.

Played there Saturday, just pipped you with 29pts off 18 but like yourself I wasn't too disappointed with that (apart from below everything was going well)

    Only 8...EIGHT 3 putts.

A lot of time on the practice green is required by me over the next few months.
Might need to lend your username for a while :o

One the positive side, it's nice to be able to say it's been a year since I sliced my driver.
Was my first time hitting a new (old) set of irons too and they were a joy.

First time poster to this thread but it think i might make it a regular thing.

35 points off 12 yesterday in very rough conditions.

Only made six greens in regulation, mainly because it was my first game with my new irons and was struggling with distance control.

Putted very well though. Only 30 putts altogether which for me (worlds worst putter) is very good. Did have one three putt though which was a sickener.

played 14 holes in athlone this morning, must say the place is in great nick considering the weather recently. Started on the 13th and finished on the 8th as i had to leave early.
    4 pars
    8 bogeys
    2 doubles and no scratches.
    34 points in total.

This sit back and relax golf is working well for me lately!!

@ AJ, Link, Keano & Scuba - when do ye want to play? Any chance of going on a Sunday. If we get one more we can go out in 2 x 3 balls. We can use the vouchers and split the fees between the rest of us.

Sunday would suit me best as well Charlie and any Sunday at all is fine.

I don't mind paying full price - as scuba said, it's only €30 and I won't have the fuel cost of yourself or anyone else travelling a similar distance. Plus I am sure myself and aj can travel in the one car.

A Sunday is good for me.
(I'd have no problem getting another lad to play if there are no boards takers)

Yourself and Keano should take the vouchers

I don't mind splitting the fees, sure we can argue on the day!! Anyone want to name a date??

Played slade valley today, first time around the course and played ok. Some very short holes but you need to place the ball well to have a shot at the greens(a lot of dog legs). Shot a 92 (par 69) 37 points but had 1 birdie and 4 pars but too many 6's and 7's. New putting grip aswell which seemed to work (left hand under right) so have to keep with it.

First round of 2013 yesterday in Blarney, for some reason it was a shortened to 13 holes which was mad as the course seemed in great condition! Hadn't played since the birth of my daughter 4 weeks ago, wasn't expecting much:

22 points scored off 22 but could have been a lot better, made 7 on the "easy" Par 5 after leaving myself 75yards for my 3rd shot! Also had 3*3putts which is unusual for me. Both Par's I had were good scrambles though so happy with that!

Anyway delighted to be back out playing :D

95 strokes for 32 points off 19 in tramore, driving went pretty well except for three holes that led to triple bogies due to hitting three off the tee, 4 bunkers also cost me shots.

Even with those mistakes i still see my game is improving so happy days.

1st full round of 2013 today. 1st time playing Castlemartyr.

88 shots for 35 points off the blue markers. Happy enough with alot of the play. Had 2 penalty drops and left a couple of putts short so, as usual could have been better.

88 is good shooting down there Freemount!! WHen are we playing again or do you find it too hard to play with a hard hat on in fear of my driving????

31 points off 12 in ladyhill.

Was due to play Palmerstown last sunday, but there was a frost delay and since we wanted to get back for the football we cancelled it and went to Ladyhill as they said they could get us out.

Probably the most bizarre conditions ive ever played in for the first 7 holes. Place was frozen solid, cud barely get the tee in the ground...ball bounced down the fairway as though it was the height of summer and the greens were a disaster, like putting on glass and when the ball eventually stopped rolling it looked like a snowball.

Had my first ever lesson on saturday, voucher off santa, the video analysis flagged up a few flaws and i tried to put what he showed me into practice. My iron play was great, too many putts though, partly because of the greens, mostly because i havent been putting well at all lately.

A game of two halves in Castlemartyr off the blues yesterday, couldn't do a thing wrong on the front 9 for 21 points-fell apart on the back with 10 points.
Blame the hunger as hadn't had any breakfast-2 scratches as a result of bad tee shots but all in all happy enough.
Played with Freemount09 he hung in very well on the home stretch with a great par on index 1 and a bad break on a par 5 which would've melted my head beyond repair:D
