Tends to be predominantly a female market, but I've seen plenty men drive them. Theyre not as girly as the VW beetles. One of my friends has a really old mini and he loves it.

Why would you care what people think anyway?

tbf the new vw beetles are lovely looking, id drive one

    Why?

Mr. Bean had one and he was cool. Shorter blokes might get away with it. If your anyway tall you might look a bit of a plonker.

    Why?

If you dont no its a girls car you must be a girl

Mini John Cooper Works GP not cheap, not subtle but with 218hp definitely not a girls car.

In what sense is it a girl's car?

Are they legally only sold to women?

Do they have sensors that only activate the car if a woman's in the driver's seat?

It has four wheels and an internal combustion engine, like most other cars. I don't see what it is about it that makes it different from them.

Gayest movie of all time then!

I assume you're being sarcastic but it's actually a very very camp movie.

In every sense it is a girls car , I do not need to know about the internal combustion or the inner makings of a car to be able to observe that its a girls car

But can't you explain why? Is it because it's smaller than most cars? If so, I don't see the correlation between gender and car size.

You need to narrow that down a bit. Does it have to be mine?

It's small and cute looking (I'm not an expert here but the rounded edges and usually cheerful colours together with its smallness contribute).

Yeah because instead of a cigarette lighter its lipstick, theirs no radio, just a built in Beyonce album, the mirrors have huge lights around them so the wimmen can do their make up.
Dont be daft, you have nothing to say its a girls car other than 'popular' opinion. Sure, I see more women driving jeeps/bmw's/mercs than "girl" cars. Does that mean they are girl cars too?

This attitude is that equal to 6-7 year old kids. Eww girls..

My other half drove one for ages. I used to love when I drove it. Find a nice twisty road and you won't have as much craic in a lot of cars. Like a little go kart... Her aul lad used to be a rally driver and loved to drive it.

On the other hand anytime I did drive it the amount of fellas who used to check me out, realise I was a fella and have the most disappointed look on there faces was unreal. I did feel a bit self conscious in it but the way it drove outweighed young lads checking me out I have to say...

I just don't see why that bars men from driving it. The smallness might be more convenient for someone who regularly drives around small spaces.

As for it being cute-looking, I think that's up to each individual to decide, just as it's up to them to decide if the appearance of their car outweighs other factors.

But I personally wouldn't even notice if a man or a woman were driving a Mini.

Well this thread puts to bed the myth that its only women who judge men by their cars.

I definitely don't think it should bar men from driving it. I could see me buying one of the old ones because they are small and look cool. But they are an effeminate car IMO.

The South Dublin types in their early twenty's, perfectly groomed, cloying manner who I've most often seen in the new ones make me retch a bit but that's not the car's fault.

Your point is entirely correct and reasonable.

But it still does not change the fact that the new mini cooper is predominantly driven by young women. Cars for whatever reason can become a little bit gender specific. The shape and colour of mini coopers does seem to appeal more to ladies. Micras appeal to older ladies. Toyota corollas appeal to people from Mayo. It may not be logical but it does not nake it any less real.

Youll be grand OP if you dont mind looking a right fanny.
    Unless you are a hairdresser it's a no-no for a guy IMO.
Don't forget to buy some oversized sunglasses if you decide to get a Mini
    Girls car. End of story!
You will be fine once your

blonde with hair tied up in a funny way, huge oversize sunglasses, Dundrum car park permit, latest fancy (pink) smartphone, oh and always carry a female passenger.

Is it the old style mini or the new shape? I drove the new cooper s and that's a great car to drive. Standard mini I think is for girls, the cooper or cooper s acceptable for a guy to drive.

A litany of shallow judgement, insecurity and bitchiness.

Quite enjoyable to read actually. :)
