    United have some spread all over the country

    and all over Manchester by the looks of things.

    interesting point here -
    Their interactive results map highlights the historical east/west split between fans in Manchester, but also shows that United – despite perceptions – do not have huge waves of support in London and the south east.

    looks like City have taken over the part-time fans brigade all over the country now, they are welcome to them.

    Seems to be more blue from what i see,
    Some amount of red on the Liverpool V Everton one.

    It's based on twitter users mentioning teams in hash-tags.

    That map doesn't show where fans live. Basically, it shows f**k all.

    Tweeting about a team doesn't mean you support them, I'd say in most cases it's the opposite.

    Liverpool the 4th most supported team in Salford.. right.... :cool:

    Lots of QPR "fans" spread all over the UK, or is that just people tweeting jokes about them this season....

    Clubs like Leeds have fans all over England due to their success in the 60's and 70's which got a lot of youngsters into them, it's not that unusual to meet Leeds fans from London and the South East.

    There is an issue with the hashtags used for instance for Chelsea, everton, liverpool etc it is #cfc,#efc,#lfc

    However Arsenals is #Arsenal where as #AFC would be more common.

    For Spurs it's #COYS, for West Ham its #COYI.

    So surely it is likely that Arsenal, Spurs and westham would be misrepresented in it and would mis out on journalists circulating there articles with the clubs hash tags.

    The only thing it really shows is what teams are most discussed by Twitter users in the area.

    For example, Everton are #2 in the vast majority of areas in Sunderland because they constantly beat us and lots of users like to take the piss out of that fact, no way are they the second best supported team up there though.

    Same goes for QPR being ranked highly in a lot of areas when really the reason is because, as Saul has mentioned, users are just using the #QPR hashtag to make jokes about how bad they have been etc.

    Talk about a misleading headline.
