I would give Walcott the 90k for the same reasons but also a boot in the hole to wake him up and make him try harder.
    He infuriates me.

exactly and it'd cost as much to replace him than to keep him :D

I think it's clear to everyone that Kroenke is only in it for the money and nothing else. Hope he just sells up now while the going is good for him. He will prob make his couple hundred million profit on his investment and leave Arsenal to finally try and move on and catch up with the rest of the Premier Leagues top flight.

Not if he leaves us in a worse state then when he bought us which you could say we most def are. If he sold today he wouldnt get what he paid. Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread but asset stripping is what he seems to be doing

Jamie Dalton also saying we are going to bid for Ádám Szalai from Mainz, I know nothing about him, but his record looks decent enough, 17 goals in 52 apps.

Then you can be assured we will never ever sign that player. Jamie Dalton is hilarious, he acts like he knows what's going on at the club when in reality he hasn't a clue and is a bullshít peddler of the highest order.

Interesting Arseblog this morning. Looks like City fans are not prepared to pay the £62 ticket price for the game this weekend. 800 tickets returned. When you look at the cost of Tier 1 games at the Emirates it's not surprising that this happens and there does seem to be more empty seats at games these days.

There does seem to be a lot lost these days from a football sense. Everything is about money, from players right up to UEFA & FIFA, sometimes it feels that football is a second consideration.

Arsenal may be good at balancing the books but it makes no difference if other clubs are raising the transfer and wages stakes by their actions. We need to follow if we are to compete and this will just hike prices even further.

Aside from any legal issues I'd welcome salary caps per club to be introduced - it may actually bring football back to the attending fans

I said it before lads itll take one bad season where we finish 5th-8th place to put pressure on the club to get its act together

The 4th place champions league spot is a smokescreen to keep fans happy so they can keep the club running as cheaply as possible!

Its really become hard to have faith lately the players on the pitch arent playing with the zest of men who can believe they can win something its not a good time for us
Its another trophyless season for us and uefa cup football next year if you ask me.

And I'll give you my response again, if we finish outside the top 4, we could be royally fuc*ed, we'd have to wave goodbye to even more of our better players, and we wouldn't be able to offer Champions League football to potential new signings. Podolski, Cazorla and Giroud; how many of those would have signed for us if weren't in the CL??

You seem to believe our board will pull the finger out and spend big if we finish outside the top 4? I don't buy that, I believe that our board will only revise our budget downwards if we finish outside the top 4, which will only plunge us further into a Liverpool style decline of recent seasons.

I along with 99% of people posting here, support Arsenal.

You, if you're willing to keep making that statement, are NOT an Arsenal fan. You are a fan of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur, because they are the teams who will most likely fill the top 4 positions if we're not there.

You're not an Arsenal fan if you actually want our biggest rivals, and in the case of Tottenham; our most hated rivals to finish ahead of us.

If we finish in the top four, we keep the Champions League revenue, and we get to actually benefit from the new Emirates deal (which is contractually worth less to us if we don't make the top 4). We all get what we want, the board get to keep lining their pockets (which they will do regardless of whether or not we're in the CL) and we (the actual fans) get to see the extra sponsorship money go towards transfers and wages.

Your way (i.e. what Tottenham fans want), will only make things a lot worse.

I can't see anywhere where he said he wants our rivals to finish ahead of us. I agree with him

I cannot fathom how an Arsenal fan would want us to finish outside the top 4 or be so deluded to think that it would inspire some sort of 'Phoenix from the ashes' scenario. Losing Champions League football really revitalized Liverpool FC. Oh wait, no it didn't!

Arsenal Under-21s: Mannone, Jenkinson, Angha, Hajrovic, Santos, Coquelin, Diaby, Frimpong, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Eisfeld, Akpom.

That's a pretty strong squad to have lined up for the 21s.
Fully expecting Diaby to play the rest of the season for us now. :p

He will be grand once he don't, shoot, tackle or try head the ball :)

Would love to see Eisfeld get a run in the first team. I know he's young but surely a 20 minute cameo at the end of a few games wouldn't do him any harm.

I sense Ramsey to start on the wing on Sunday.

Didnt realise Frimpong is back from his loan at Charlton wasnt it? Anyone know how he got on? Did he even go in the end?

I think the thinking is that at the moment we'd need a six goal lead for us to be confident of getting three points, and thats the time to try new players.

Think he got injured pretty early on, so went back to Arsenal to recover. Could be mistaken.

So the papers are running with Theo signing a new 5 year deal worth 25m over years, which is roughly 95k per week. Not sure if he warrants it, but he has lots of potential to become more consistant and improve, and another big player leaving would be another dagger in the side, so I hope this is true.

Jamie Dalton also saying we are going to bid for Ádám Szalai from Mainz, I know nothing about him, but his record looks decent enough, 17 goals in 52 apps.

He never actually said that, he just said that there was an article in a German newspaper about it.

+1 he looks like a player that could turn out great has a great football brain has great touches and finds those little pockets of space that cesc used to pop up in... would have him in ahead of ramsey everyday... have nothing against ramsey just think Eisfield is a better player

In fairness he was excellent against them in the return fixture playing from the wing.

I hope Ramsey pulls a great performance out of his locker. He's well overdue IMO.

Looks like Diaby has survived 65 minutes in the 21s without any injuries. Good for him.

I like Diaby but his return from injury comes at a very wierd time. Hard to say whether its good or bad timing. On the one hand we have a ridiculous schedule of fixtures and an extra Cm will come in handy, but on the other hand it will become one less reason for Wenger to actually buy new players.

Also, anyone noticed this u21 team never actually win?! They had Diaby, Jenkinson, Ox, Coquelin, Eisfield, Frimpong and Mannone and still drew!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,575 ✭✭✭TheGunns

Diaby and Frimpong would be welcomed back if they stay fit. Two good players, Frimpong shows a lot of promise and actually looks like someone who wants to play for the club. Love his hunger and intensity, hopefully he comes good and stays injury free.

A true fan generally hopes his team finishes as high as possible.

Yet you want us to finish outside of a Champions League place in Hope that will rise from the ashes and triumph.

When in most cases teams just keep falling.
