Ford Focus 2007 1.6TDci brake ( Foot/hand) is opening my boot

Well as I say in the title ,

When stationary and I hit the brake or pull up the handbrake its unlocking my boot ,

The boot wont fully open ( or has not at this point ) when driving

I cant open it using the usual release just over the reg plate , has me baffled , the car was parked up for about 6 days over the Xmas as we were driving in hers ,

The car needs a service anyway so Il get it looked at then too , the only fault I have noticed is the passenger brake light is not working either but the tail light is , this surly would not be the cause of the issue would it ?

Maybe remove the rubber conduit that connects the boot lid with the car body and see if you can see any frayed/broken cables...?...Damaged cables can cause all sorts of problems.

It's a common problem on that Focus as with the model before it. Water can get into the boot lock from either the rear windscreen wiper or the number plate lights in the boot itself eventually causing the boot lock to freak out. Happend the Focus I had a few years ago and had to have the lock replaced, apparently Ford made a better sealed unit later on.

I fixed a 06 saloon Focus with a similar fault, the wires were badly frayed in the rubber slieve, some solder and heat-shrink later it was all fixed.
