Dark patches appearing on TV LCD panel

Hey guys, just looking for some advice as my TV appears to be developing a fault. I have a Samsung LCD TV (not sure of the model number, sorry, can check if necessary). It's an LCD screen (not LED) and is about five years old. Recently I've noticed one side of the screen appears darker than the other side, and when turning on the Sky box (on the initial blue screen), there are two black bands extending horizontally from the side toward the middle of the screen. These can be seen at other times too, but are particularly noticeable in the situation described. Very intermittently, I get a very distorted image, which may last a few seconds, or it may need the TV to be switched off and switched back on again.

As the TV is five years old, I'm probably not covered by a warranty any more, so I was wondering if anyone know if this is a failing bulb or something more serious, and where I might get it repaired if the TV isn't going to become a basket case. Thanks in advance.

You would have to give some indication of your location before anyone would be able to advise repair facilities. If you are in Munster I could recommend an outfit in Cork TMULL
