Precision metal work

    Hi,
    I am looking to have a piece of light metal cut into an exact disc, with some holes of various sizes cut into the disc. The problem is i dont own a drill press, right bits for the job etc..
    Is there anywhere in Galway city that would cut a piece of metal ( light aluminum is fine )to given dimensions for me for a reasonable rate?

    thanks! their site looks very professional! My task is just for a hobby thing im trying to make - would they cater to a simple job like mine ( i just have a piece of paper with dimensions, no autoCAD drawings etc.. )

    They should do. I went in before with a bit of a cornflakes box cut to size & explained what I needed.

    They are at it for years so know their stuff. They'll take all jobs big & small I'd imagine. They weren't always as big as they are now but I can't imagine they'd turn any work away.

    Not so sure about Pat Rynn for precision work, they're more geared towards the heavy stuff. I got some plates drilled there a few years ago that were meant to have aligned tapped through-holes, they were all over the place :rolleyes:

    You could do a lot worse than drop into a few of the small engineering workshops along the Sandy Road (Tools and Prototypes, Galway Tool & Die spring to mind), they should be able to sort you out.

    Hi. In that case I would agree with Mayoforsam's advice and go for the Sandy Road one. I do think Galway Tool and Die is gone.

    There's also Grp4 Fabrication in Ballybane.

    They specialise in motorsport items, but I think that they can also do other custom work. No harm in giving them a call.
