The comparison between the old non smashed lamp and the new one, it's easy to tell which is which.

    First one fitted.

And this was the nasty one. completely smashed, the mountings on the back broken off so it kept falling out. Ugh.

    I'll keep it in case... I don't know. I'm a hoarder.

The screws from the lamp still bolted on to the car, there's a crack in the top mount but it seems sturdy enough... For now at least.
These were stupid hard to get off, a bit of WD40 and some bruit force eventually got them moving.

And here's the picture you've all been after, a full set of working lights. :D

An easy job, as simple as unscrewing a few things and plugging them in.
Definitely has me wanting to change more.
I need a new CV joint, how difficult is that? :D

The other day, I turned the key in the punto and it wouldn't go on.
So I put it charging and it would't charge. So I wrapped it up in a puffy coat. (True story. :o)

    Puffy coat. \/
    draft_lens16214571module138897091photo_1320670565puffy-jacket-men.jpg

Two days later, I went in to the shed and unwrapped it. I tried to charge it again. I't chraged. :D

Yesterday, I hooked up the battery and I let the punto run for a few mins. :)

What's the story with that, you any closer to driving it yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,575 ✭✭✭166man

Today I did many things. Washed clayed and polished all three Alfa's. Hopefully get some pictures up later.

Also replaced the stereo in my 156. It had been there since we got it in 2002 and it was ancient. Clarion I think it was. Halfords were doing half price stereos so I picked up a JVC yoke for €70. Managed to fit it myself handily enough so very happy.

It's a gem, I just need money for tax, N.C.T and insurance. So that's why it isn't on the road yet. One day though. :)

Hair dryer, remove bulbs, repeat till all damp has gone.

To prevent it happening again, look for a rubber tube coming from the headlight and ensure its clear of dirt. It's on the side of the lamp

    Just a quick Q.

Do the head lights need to realigned after?

I'd do realignment - better safe than sorry. ;)

Today I changed a bulb behind the centre console, one of them had blown and couldn't see the heater dial at night.

Center out with one bulb working:

All back together (too bright to see it working):

Did the same thing with mine, only both bulbs had blown. Wish I had smaller fingers though, right nuisance of a job.

New seal on the passenger side headlight which was very bad. Hopefully I have done a good job and that will hold...

Got it all back together, wasnt able to do valve stem seals as the value compressor I bought doesnt fit around the cams and springs at all.

I did however hone all 12 intake tubes, replaced rocker cover gaskets, some fuel lines, intake manifold gaskets, reset (corrected) valve timing on both banks. As a nice side effect after resetting the valve timing the hydraulic rattle when cold was gone completely on first start. I should have more torque now too as the timing is in-sync on each side and not retarded.

Also here is the result of the paint can and clean up on the intake and cover. Nearly back together, without some covers and MAFs:

gave the glanza a very thorough wash (between the showers ) up under the arches and then fitted a number plate tilt bracket that i got for christmas. the car is no longer un modified :P

3 weeks since i last washed it nearly on the awful gritty roads.

was concerned that my alloys has became pitted from the way they looked, good dose of APC and a soft brush done the business though :)

Today I removed a Nokia CK-7W car kit and installed a new JVC head unit to replace the Chinese tat that came with the car. This JVC unit comes highly recommended from both Amazon.com and testfreaks and is probably the best value at this price point in case anyone is looking. It has USB front and rear, Bluetooth with audio streaming, ipod control and aux in + it's 4x50W Mosfet. It can access phonebook on my android and shows signal strength, message indicator etc. Only caveat is that the bluetooth adaptor requires a USB port but I have seen elsewhere that the thing works with USB hubs to allow more ports at the back!

I also just installed a Bluetooth ODB adaptor behind the dashboard by popping the odb2 connector out of the trim and zip tying the thing behind the fuse board cover.

Just doing some tests and pleasantly surprised to see that the Torque w/ Bluetooth ODB and Bluetooth phone call via radio work perfectly at the same time on my phone.

I have placed an order for a "flat" micro usb cable that I am going to route through a piece of dashboard trim up to the phone mount to avoid dangling wires. I am also considering just embedding a USB power port on a piece of dash trim but I'l see how the first option goes first.

Got me some 13" mk3 Polo wheels with tyres for €40, sanded them down, sprayed them with glossy white paint and a few coats of lacquer and then
got my hands on some g60 centre caps and nut caps. also got some yellow vinyl lens tint and classic pressed plates. Think it's looking pretty nice now smile.gif

used them for a set of pressed plates (standard) for my 2 and they were 100% great service.

Those plates would be legal on my car, that's what I'm thinking :)

Who owns the white Polo Golf? Looks cool! Any more pics of that?

Wheels on the red Polo are a nice too. :)

*Thought the white one was a Mk1 polo, didn't see the two doors.*
