I didnt say it was nothing. Yes there were unsavoury incidents and i hope those involved in serious disorder are dealt with but jellie made it sound like a full scale riot which it was not. Also Lennon will say whatever the board tell him, and i dont blame him for that.

Anyone else think its ridiculous having an evening kick off on Stephens Day? Must be a nightmare dealing with fans who have been n the tear all day regardless of who they are.

Actually i didnt realise as many as 70 were ejected.

I agree with you on the kick off times to a certain extent but it really says a lot about society that people can't be trusted not to get out their faces

The Union Bears march to Hampden for tomorrow has been cancelled.

Those who were organising it got a message from Strathclyde's finest that they could be subject to arrest for doing it.

Bunch of power-hungry idiots, god forbid some fans have a good time.

Coillte: I read comments from your own message boards, people being slashed, walking around with busted faces, bottles thrown,... sounds pretty close to large scale disorder to me.

Oh come on Lawell has come out and apologised for the behaviour, Lennon has said he doesn't want them at games some 70 ejected from the ground and the Police looking at cctv footage with the view to making more arrests. Of course it was nothing
Not disagreeing with you on this point but Lennon and Lawell do not speak for the Celtic support. They've made that pretty clear in the past.

People being slashed? new one on me. What ive been reading and have heard was a few lads involved in drunken scraps and bit of hassle before entry cos not enough turnstiles open. But seriously isnt it odd that no videos or photos have surfaced yet? Dont get me wrong, im not denying there was hassle but i think it may have been exaggerated, then again i may be wrong.

Thats ridiculous re your march as well. Police way out of order imo

Haha fair enough. Wouldn't say I agree with everything the GB do either but I'm definitely not on my own with my views re. Lawell :)

I'm just repeating what Celtic fans said.

To be fair, I know they've been drinking all day which goes a long way to explaining it.
Guess that'll be the next thing on the police's list of bad things.

So who speaks for the Celtic support then? You? The GB? I would guess that Lennon and Lawwell's views are shared by a large proportion of Celtic fans.

Again agreed and it says a hell of a lot about our society

I don't think any one person can speak on behalf of so many.

The UB organisers of the march would be subject to arrest because they have not met the criteria for holding a parade. Really they are now playing the victim card and are doing themselves no favours

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Nonsense, it's not just the UB but fans all over the country, police are simply trying to crack down on any sort of fan movement.

I don't care about other fans I care what some of the UB believe is their right to do what they want.
For example they are going to try and move people from seats in an area they want to sit in tomorrow.I wish them good luck with that ;)

I highly doubt that, they are allocated a section just for themselves and have said nothing about making people move away.

No they don't they have a section but many others have tickets for it and they have made it clear they want the seats for their own hangers on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

I know you don't like them, but they do have their own area of the ground allocated.
Just like has happened in the past for youth cup finals etc.

They applied as a group for tickets and got them all in the west stand, this was immediately said on various message boards and most of the people who buy tickets for that part of the ground are aware of this.

That has always been the Rangers End of Hampden by the way, with the most atmosphere ;)

    FIFA boycott?

    Rangers go under
    14 June
Rangers’ perilous financial position had been an open secret but there was still shock when, after 140 years of history and a world record 54 league titles, the club was consigned to liquidation in mid-June. The Glasgow giants were subsequently reformed as a new company and granted entry to the Third Division, Scotland’s fourth tier, which they currently lead by nine points with a game in hand.

Looks like Alex Ferguson will be added to Charles Green's Nixon list aswell :pac:

    How so ?
SIR ALEX FERGUSON has branded the fall of Rangers a DISGRACE and a DISASTER.

The Manchester United boss was invited to attend today’s Third Division clash between Queen’s Park and the Light Blues as a former player for both sides. But he can’t head north because United are playing West Brom at Old Trafford.

However, Fergie — who turns 71 on Monday — still can’t believe the turn of events which saw his beloved former club first crash into administration, then into summer liquidation.

The ex-Aberdeen boss started his playing career with the Spiders in 1957, joining the Gers ten years later from Dunfermline.

And of the Ibrox outfit, he told Sky Sports: “Rangers, of course, are not Rangers as we know it. Obviously.

“What’s happened to that great club is a DISGRACE, it’s a disaster.”

Fergie, though, was full of praise for boss Ally McCoist with the Gers having recovered from a shaky opening in the fourth tier of Scottish football to now lead the Third Division by 12 points.

He said: “I think the job Ally McCoist has done is fantastic, I really do.

“Talk about having an examination of a manager.

“And what bigger examination could a Rangers manager ever get than by being demoted to the Third Division, losing all of your players and they are still top of the league.

“Ally’s done a fantastic job and he’ll not get that credit because if Rangers are not in European football, it’s not Rangers.”

On the meeting of his former sides Fergie added: “I was invited to the game, but unfortunately we’re playing.”

SKY SPORTS subscribers can watch Queen’s Park v Rangers from 12pm on Sky Sports 4 HD, and on the move with Sky Go. Skysports.com/skygo.

    Source; the Sun.

Fine words, nothing wrong with that at all.

He quite clearly says that its a different club, maybe ye are finally accepting reality.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

    It's related to:

"if Rangers are not in European football, it’s not Rangers"

    Try again.

    lol wut

They didn't lose all their players, and they brought in some of the best SPL players. They have done pretty badly with that in mind.

I can understand Rangers fans loving McCoist for staying, but surely even they don't think he's done a good job? Dropped plenty of points in the league and papped out of two cups (even the Ramsdens Cup lolol) with a squad that should win Div 1 at least.

So aside from understandable pride and respect for his loyalty... yous don't actually think he's doing a good job, do you?

Its quite obvious what he's saying with that remark but its not the comment im on about
Rangers, of course, are not Rangers as we know it. Obviously

That comment is about the liquidation, fine words indeed!

He wouldn't be the first bluenose to recognise their demise, so I'm sure he'll get the same free pass as Green et al.
