The No.1 is the one you need.

Every 20 minutes all day, and every 30minutes at night.

47 from Fleet Street and the 77A and 56A also goes to Barrow Street via Dame Street and Townsend Street; the stop is at the Screen Cinema. The 15A and 15B go to Grand Canal Dock which is maybe 5 minutes walk; they also stop at Townsend Street and handy enough, the 1 stops there as well :)

DART from Tara Street to Grand Canal Dock is also an option

The DART always was the worst way to do it for me and the most unreliable. I did the commute for a good year or two by public transport.

If you are coming from the North side of O'Connell Street the best way to do it is to get either the 4/7/8 (all from the same stop) which is on the corner of Parnell Square, or if the South side of O'Connell Street get on the 4/7/8 at O'Connell Bridge and get off at the last stop on Mount Street outside Bord Bia, bus takes about 7-8 minutes and it's a five minute walk.

With the combined frequency of those routes you shouldn't be waiting long for a bus.

It isn't a particularly long distance.

While Barrow Street isn't particularly long, the number 1 will drop you a the Pearse Street end and frequency isn't great. The following buses also run there, but don't stop near O'Connell Street - 47 Towards Belarmine, 56a Towards Ringsend Rd., 77a Towards Ringsend Rd.

Alternatives are getting a DART from Tara Street Station to Grand canal Dock (on Barrow Street) or a number 4, 7 or 8 - you can get these at Bus Stop No. 4725 O'Connell St at Parnell Street or Bus Stop No. 273 O'Connell Bridge. Get off just before the Grand Canal.

It'd be about a 30 min walk if the weather's decent and you don't have to carry anything heavy.
