AW would probably have gotten a lot more out of him I think. He certainly would have played a lot of the time for us. But we gambled on Diaby instead. Oh dear. Sahin has a bit of bite about him too.

I'm unsure of what we need in January tbh. Unless we're signing players that can go straight into the first team, I'd question what the point is. Possibly could do with a 'presence' in midfield but I haven't a clue who that might be.

I'd be looking to get Jemaine Meade off to a Championship side and try to accelerate his development as competition for Gibbs. Probably recall Ryo too and see if you could send him back to Bolton.

I'd love a natural winger that can play either side. Somebody in the Arjen Robben mould.

This is it, where we're lacking is in the final third. The beauty of getting wingers would be it'd solve the striker problem as you could just play Poldi there and alternate between him and Giroud as necessary (Walcott too). A pair of effective wingers would solve a lot of our problems. Add a more imposing midfielder and you'd have a lot of the ills of our squad solved. You'd only need some minor window dressing like experienced backup to Woj and LB competition for Gibbs. A project like Zaha would be nice too.

Tahts exactly my thinking, The Ox hasnt delivered this year but hes young and I still have a lot of faith in him just cant rely on him week in week out yet, Gervinho well nothing needs to be said, Walcott I have a feeling is gone, Podolski id prefer if he was shifted up front hes suited better there.

So yeh two quality wingers, and a midfielder in the Vieira mould and I think we would look like a much better prospect.
It would sort out our problems in the final third and also give us more steel in midfield protectign the defence and giving Wilshere and Cazorla more freedom to do what they do best.

On Ryo whats gone on there great reviews last season from Bolton doesnt seem to be getting a look in at Wigan not a god sign needs to come back to Arsenal or be moved onto a club were he will get more game time.

Problem is, we wont be getting these players in January and I dont blame Wenger for being wary. Our two big January signings in recent(-ish) years? Arshavin and Reyes. Neither exactly set the world on fire. I cant see a big signing in January.

I'd be well happy if we signed the Arshavin that scored 4 against Liverpool and dropped that other Arshavin that's lingering around the fringe these days.

Seem to recall most people agreeing with Wenger not going for Sahin for the money talked about; I certainly did.

Selling Song with the grand masterplan to rely on Diaby instead was ****ing stupid though.

A top class winger would help us a huge amount but we'd still need a striker really. Giroud is a good option but that's all he is (at least at the moment). After that we've got Walcott and Gervinho. Podolski gets mentioned a lot but if he can't get a start up front with the current lot, that's got to tell you something. Any time he's played there for us he's been chronic.

Diaby was just a stop gap measure until Jack came back...

I don't agree; if he'd stayed fit he'd probably still be in the team and I don't think the current trio are Arsene's preferred choice for most PL games.

Current trio are too small and too similar. I know he was probably getting at a monopolising possession type of thing but even Barcelona had Toure, Keita and latterly Busquets in there with Xavi/Iniesta/Fabregas. I think you that kind of balance to the team.

You're right in saying that were Song here now our first choice midfield would be Song plus 2 out of Arteta/Cazorla/Wilshere.

Think Ryo has been out for most of the league so far, he isnt due back till Feb next year, according to Psysioroom.

I've got no problem signing versatile, talented players like Turan. Even if it means Cazorla or whoever shifts around you can never have too many good players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,631 ✭✭✭batistuta9

I dont know much about the player himself but another attack minded central midfielder is the last thing we need if you ask me.

A DM, Wingers, LB and and CF should be our main conerns.

    Turan plays wide

    wenger on Ba link
"I like Demba Ba, yes," the Arsenal manager said ahead of his team's match against Newcastle tomorrow.

"I don't think [this] is the right place to speak about that, because he plays against us tomorrow.

"I wouldn't like to put Newcastle or us or him in an uncomfortable position. If you ask me 'do we sign Demba Ba?' I say no."

Wenger says we are not signing Ba.

Which means we have signed Ba :D

Watch Wenger fail to buy a midfielder because the mighty Abou Diaby is returning for the hundredth time. And will break down yet again within a month.

As it is, we are screwed if Arteta gets injured. Arsenal FC should not be in such a position.

Hope we pass on this Zaha kid aswell and buy someone established. We're already waiting for half of our strikeforce to deliver consistently, dont need another project.

    Was thinking that myself.
January arrives and guess what? Diaby and Rosicky are returning plus the mighty Santos. You couldn't time an egg better.

I don't know I think the fact that he wont be able to haggle them on the buy out clause by a couple of hundred might scupper any possible deal

At £7.5m it really is a no brainer in terms of adding another striker to the squad

Its so hard to watch RVP Though 4 months later i think im ready to move on.

Also another player left cause we wouldn't give the going wage for a world class player, which funnily enough is why we don't have any at the moment.

Edit - actually i realise its fake, my bad.

I had a dream last night that we signed David Villa. It was so real I woke up convinced it was true...

He's 31 years old and on too much money for us i'd say.

I know. Can't see it happening. It was a nice dream all the same!

Another of the TalkSport funnies below, real one on top.

On the subject of Villa, I do think he'd be a cracking loan signing for the rest of the season. The caveat being though, that we get to work early on getting in a permanent solution to the front 3 because we are 2 quality players light there. Villa at 31 is not that solution but he would give us a huge boost in the league.

If I were AW and Dick Law & Order, I'd be looking to Germany for some value.
