I only get with girls that smoke. It's usually a good sign that she's a freak in the bedroom too :pac:

Fairytale of New York is over played....and not as good as everybody makes it out to be......

The government is doing an OK job, not stellar, but not bad. There's nobody that could do an awful lot better given the circumstances. People who are willing to accept Sinn Fein's proposals are blinded by stupidity or desperation and have very, very short memories. The dole is too high for a good proportion of people and it should be cut down drastically after a certain period. People who refuse to accept any form of work from the dole after a set period should be cut off entirely.

Ah, it could be worse. "Hall Of Fame" by The Script is seriously over-played.

Peppa's father, of Peppa Pig fame, is an overbearing arsehole.

    The Hobbit was terrible.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo wasn't in any way a film that empowered women. It was dressed that way, but that was the justification for mistreatment and abuse of the main character. Trying to turn something completely messed up into something that's more socially digestible by way of the lead being some kind of crusading genius savant, too thin a veneer.
I'll be honest, I know one or two people that saw it and loved it, and I've been a bit skeptical about them, not in a bad minded way, but definitely in a tasteless way. When you rate a film with torture porn/rape highly I'm going to be cocking an eyebrow at you.

Harrowing, and a completely different film that I'm not reviewing today, but thanks for the request.
My post was specific to the film mentioned, don't quote bits of it out of context please.

You made a general comment ("when you rate a film...") about films with certain scenes that may cause distress. I was just wondering if that opinion applied to RFAD.

I didn't make a general comment, it was in relation to the film mentioned. It's a general comment when you quote a line in isolation, out of context. Like I said already, different film, different criteria. I'm not writing a post on Requiem tonight, sorry.

So, how about Kill Bill Vol. 1? The Bride comes close to being raped while comatose.

I think it was a good movie, with a solid plot and terrific acting.

I don't think you understood it. showing something bad happening in a movie isn't the same as being for that thing, it showed those things so the audience can see how disgusting and horrendous those acts are.

the original swedish movie is one of my favourites

I understood it and I had a look at the books. They're pulp and so is the film.
It would be simple minded to think the film was for whatever it contained..
For me it's more a violent film toward women than for women, if you understand.

This is unpopular opinions and it was a popular film so i'm sure I'll meet disagreement.
