Well that's just not true I bought a Wii RGB cable in Gamestop only a little while ago...

In fairness not exactly 'springing up', it as mentioned weeks ago about the hard drive issue, they even had a Direct almost especially for it.

Oh fair enough, I wasn't keeping up with the Directs. It's news to me though and another reason why I'm holding off for a price drop as at the current price, I don't perceive it as worthwhile/value.

Try the hardware department of your local Tescos, you'd be surprised at what they have lying around (that's where i got my Classic Controller Pro and component cable when absolutely nowhere else in town had them).

All this talk of WiiU's breaking....if I buy in argos tomorrow (have one reserved) and it bricks day 1. Where do I bring it back ? Does it matter really where I buy it? If it breaks (in warranty) it goes back to Nintendo ?

This is why you should not buy consoles near launch. Its better for your pocket and yourself if you wait a year or two. There is no must have exclusive title for the wiiU out anway.

Also, its kind of funny how nintendo's online services still seem like they are from the late 1990's. Its a bloody joke that they don't tie your purchases to an account (if what I have read here is correct)

Yeah I'm so glad I cancelled my pre-order a week before it came out, totally unneccessary for me to own a new console when there are so many great games out for the current generation to keep me occupied at the moment. I barely have enough time to play them, let alone embark on discovering a brand new gaming gizmo! When a few must-have titles come out for it and when all these download shenanigans fade away I'll consider upgrading, but until then, I'll be keeping my distance.

Am I supposed to get free points or something with a new console? I've created a Nintendo ID, a Club Nintendo account & linked them together. Is there something else I'm meant to do?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

I assume he means nintendo club points. There should be a slip in the box for it (like with the 3DS)

And i've ordered one of those £225 Wii U's, can't resist at that price.

There was a slip in the box, but it had no peel off section. Zombi U has an identical slip but that had a peel off section that revealed a code

... I actually don't know then. With my 3DS, it comes with a slip in the box talking about nintendo club, then a code on the back that you scratch off, and enter on the website.

Once you connect your Nintendo ID to the club account, you should get 1000 points. Can take a few hours for them to appear though.

Just did it there, when you link the console to your Club Nintendo account, log on to your account and there should be something about a survey. You need to take the survey to get the 1000 points.

Ok I've 1500 stars, what do I do now? Are they to be redeemed for the eshop or something? :o

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

You can buy nintendo points off the store using your stars (I think)

There's a lot of things you can buy with your stars from the stars catalogue. Here's the link:
    http://stars.nintendo-europe.com/?locale=en_GB
You need to collect a lot of points to get anything decent though. In general, you get 250 stars for every game you buy (sometimes you get double that if you choose a downloadable version eg NSMB2 from the 3ds eShop (I think, it may have been a limited time offer, need to check that). I've got over 8000 stars saved up, and I'm seriously thinking of blowing 7000 of them on the SNES classic controller for Wii. :)

So its only stuff off the catalogue you can buy, & not the eshop for games/dlc etc?
