So its only stuff off the catalogue you can buy, & not the eshop for games/dlc etc?

Yeah, just stuff from the online catalogue, but you can get nintendo points at the conversion rate of 400 stars for 100 points, for Wii/DSi games.

Just did it there, when you link the console to your Club Nintendo account, log on to your account and there should be something about a survey. You need to take the survey to get the 1000 points.

Oh yeah, forgot about the survey.

You can't use them on the WiiU eshop though, from the catalogue:
Please note: Nintendo Points can only be used in the Nintendo DSi Shop and Wii Shop Channel, and cannot be used in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo eShop on Wii U
Nintendo splitting it's shops and points is a bit of a pain in the ass, hopefully they combine them all into one at some stage.

I know yeah, that's why I said the nintendo points are "for Wii/DSi games". ;) The eShops for the next gen consoles use actual currency.

It is a bit frustrating that there hasn't been proper integration across the different shops yet, but they'll get there eventually. NoA's Dan Abelman stated recently that there are no plans as of yet, which is a shame, but we'll have to make do I suppose! :)

    1) No it is not. To buy games/apps on the Wii U eShop you use your local currency, €, £, $ or whatever

    2) That link is for the US/Canada Club Nintendo

    3) The page doesn't even mention points it talks about coins which are their version of the stars we get here in Europe for our Club Nintendo

not quite the same thing but if you're a member of "Nintendo Network Premium" (ie you bought the expensive WiiU) looks like you get 8 points per euro spent on the eShop, and 500 points = 5 euro to spend in the shop.

Not great but better than nothing.

Wii U (and 3ds) does not use Nintendo Points. This is what the original question was about. They use cards that have a money value instead. You can't buy these with your club Nintendo points.

well u can if u get enough of the games

4000 stars need for 1000 Nintendo points card would equal 16 games to buy

2000 stars need for 500 Nintendo points card would equal 8 games to buy

1200 stars need for 300 Nintendo points card would equal 5 games to buy

400 stars need for 100 Nintendo points card would equal 2 games to buy

These don't work on the Wii U or 3DS, only the Wii or DSi. They've changed their method of payment for the new consoles.

because theres no wii u nintendo points cards or 3ds points available yet until sometime at end 2013, eventually Nintendo will make Nintendo points cards for wii u and 3ds

for those that dont have credit cards

The point is that the 3DS/Wii U E-store uses actual monetary prices, not point prices, so you will never be able to use the point cards on them.
They also do already make eshop cards that you can buy. You just can't get them in the star catalogue.

It's funny cause I could have sworn I've bought a number of prepaid cards for my 3ds, including a Zelda one that was released in 2011. I must be a time traveller and never realised it. Cool.

I really should stop doing this, but blatantly wrong information annoys me.

Also, best value in Wii U is the premium Nintendoland pack in Harvey Normans for around the €360 mark, not bad at all.
Of course, on the same day I bought a Wiimote with motion plus for 9.91 in PC World next door, then went back a few days later and got a 22.99 WiiU pro controller, also got ZombiU for 49.99 in HMV.
So, I spent about €415 for the contents of the ZombiU premium pack, and have Nintendoland as well, and if I had bought them in the shops it would have worked out around €420, and I wouldn't have Nintendoland, so not too shabby.

The Regginator himself said it'd be a nice feature that he'd love to see, but it's not something that's in development.

The survey gets you stars, which can be used on Club Nintendo to get Wii/DSi points, or cool things like a Wii SNES controller.

I think you said such a thing before and I posted this:
    https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-CGkalXtm-gE/UCZykDE2EoI/AAAAAAAAAJY/h0sU5WFBymQ/s1095/CameraZOOM-20120810212741230.jpg
They've been available since about 3 months after the 3DS launched.

Cash-cards work on Wii, Wii U, DSi, 3DS.
On Wii U and 3DS, you'll get €15, if bought above.
On Wii and DSi you'll get 1,500 Points, if bought above.

Hadn't seen that, that is a good idea, someone can't buy the wrong card
