Isnt it fitting for for the man who wrote probably the best Christmas song 'Fairytale of New York',that he celebrates his birthday today.

No, he can buy new teeth alright; its just they don't last that long in his head due to the incomprehensible waffle coming from his mouth.

55 today, I wonder what odds you would have gotten on him reaching that age back in the 80s.

Great talent though, I'm going to throw on Rainy Night In Soho now.

Just goes to show that alcohol is safer than speedboats.

He was propping up the bar in Keoghs off Grafton Street last Saturday. On his own, but getting lots of punters shaking hands / taking photos. Seemed to be fairly well drunk. Funnily enough he was holding a "love:hate" dvd box set and lifting it up for every photo!

Would agree with the comment that he probably "wont see another one"......... Sad but unfortunately true.

His wife, that broad who writes for the Independent states that he can't go into a pub in Ireland without people offering to buy him drink.

He's a legend don't care what anyone says. No matter what he does you don't hear stories of him falling out of pubs being a dick to anyone. I raise a glass to him o/

That's true. People always insult his drinking, I don't think I've ever heard of him doing anything bad when drunk.

Probably is at this stage. Of course successful musicians earn nothing like people think they do.

People dont seem to realise that he is a very intelligent bloke. As a kid he got a literature scholarship and went to Westminster school, the one next to the Houses of Parliament in London.

He got caught with drugs and was expelled in second year.:D

Leave him at it is what I think. He seems like the sort of person who just wants to get on with life and take each day as it comes. He probably just goes out, gets pissed as a fart and goes home.

He's a very intelligent guy, he has issues in life and has struggled with social anxiety and shyness, alcohol of course is a quick fix to these problems.

I'd say most people actually do realise it.
