    No.

Supporting that organisation? Seriously? By going to a Catholic Church and participating you believe:

    1) That you are eating flesh (yes, it does mean that if you take communion)
    2) Are against contraception in all cases
    3) You should stone me as a heretic
    4) You should not wear garments of different sorts
    5) That IVF is wrong
    6) That the removal of a foetus that was dying anyway to save the life of a mother is wrong

Plus it is *so* *SO* dull.

Mind control nothing, Cannon law was changed that once you are in you can't leave according to their records. That makes the article posted complete bollocks.

My mother announced today that she thinks her kids are old enough to decide whether or not they want to go to mass. Still not sure if she'll hit the roof tomorrow when we decide not to go. She hasn't been to mass herself since xmas last year, so she can hardly talk!

You concern yourself with the life of the mother but have no concern for the life of the unborn infant.

Maybe you should review your values first.

    Hardly evil.

Not long back from (10pm) Midnight Mass. Did they change some of the words of some of the prayers? Was praying along, when the rest of the congregation started saying something else from what I remembered the words to be.

That aside, was quite a nice service in Sligo Catherdral, the priest trying to get the crowd going with the carols, a reference to Kris Kristofferson 'Sunday Morning Coming Down' in the homily, and finishing off with carols in candlelight.

Took ages to get out though, with half the congregation wanting to shake the Bishops hand, and then the wait to get out of the carpark.

Evidently you're an a la carte. Can hear them a mile off.

Just watching Mass from Leeds on BBC here. Great liturgy.

Your understanding of transubstantiation is clearly lacking

    2) Are against contraception in all cases
    Shock horror!

    3) You should stone me as a heretic
    Wrong

    4) You should not wear garments of different sorts
    Wrong

    5) That IVF is wrong
IVF involves the destruction of fertilised human embryos. You know perfectly well the Catholic position on this. If you don't -- it's well documented.

    6) That the removal of a foetus that was dying anyway to save the life of a mother is wrong
Simplistic. Every case is different. The intention should always be to save both lives.

Plus it is *so* *SO* dull.

In summary, you're an uneducated simpleton who thinks he/she/it knows all about the church because of some Dan Brown book that you've heard about.

The RCC changed their liturgy to a translation which is apparently closer to the Latin.

Now, it's been several years since I've been to RCC Mass, and I can count the times in total on one hand, so I only know this from reading on the Christianity forum and online.

So let me get this straight, you dont want to turn it into a church bashing thread, yet your making generalisations about people who have said they went or are going.

    Mmmmmmmmmm.

Jesus does it really matter what his personal beliefs are? Come down off your high horse cross.

Yes they changed the wording of the mass irish-stew to reflect a more faithful rendering of the english translation of the latin text of the mass. It's all explained better here, including the old and new translations and wording-

I think it's off putting that those who don't attend frequently are being pointed out as alacarte.

How is one meant to become interested in something if they aren't able to try it out first? I hope that you don't treat newcomers in that way at your church publicous, I certainly never would.

Funny how people who adopt an extremist position in condeming the Church aren't themselves viewed as extremists!

    How can I leave officially?

I can't help you in leaving the RCC.

That wasn't what my point was about. I was referring to describing people as alacarte when they do decide to go to church (any Christian church) as being unhelpful.

Ugh, do you really have to be so obnoxious?

And with that I'm gone. To all, a Merry Christmas (remember the reason for the season).

Must be a sickener when you had to resort to the above to get the thread to move in the way you wanted. Pathetic.

They say those closest to the church are furthest from God. That would apply to you. If any of it were real. Which it isn't.

    Still pathetic though

Thankfully publicous doesn't represent the RC as a whole Phil. I'd hate to be associated with his ridiculous and rambling full of bitterness posts!
