Seems like everyone keeps mentioning British and Irish comedians. I would have thought someone would have mentioned Dane Cook by now.

Anyway I never got Jerry Seinfeld, Martin Lawrence, Russell Howard or Peter Kay.

    Jason Byrne
    Andrew Maxwell
    Hector O'Haughytyhouiliannhy or whatever
Andrew Maxwell - he's in twice cos he really isn't funny.
    Tommy Tiernan.

Michael McIntyre - just not funny. He comes across as so smug too.

Russell Brand - find him annoying in the extreme.

Jimmy Carr - funny in a television setting, but that whole one-liner stand-up style is not really my bag.

Sarah Silverman - way too over the top, as a lot of American comedians are.

Dane Cook - absolute sh*te. Have no idea how he became as popular as he did.

Daniel Tosh - shock humour isn't really that funny, to be honest.

Will Ferrell - I know loads of people love him, but I just don't get it.

Andrew Dice Clay - don't think he does stand-up any more, but there was a time when he was inexplicably popular, almost rock star status, and all his humour is is misogyny, racism and homophobia with absolutely no sense of irony or wit.

On someone like Ricky Gervais, I think he's a better comedy writer than he is a stand-up.

On the other hand, Dylan Moran and Stewart Lee are both excellent. Another vote for Graham Norton too, despite him not being a comedian as such. Also, it's not on any more (:(), but Flight of the Conchords was such a brilliant show. Those guys are hilarious. I hope they come back at some point with something new.

Peter Kay. I don't know why he is famous at all.

I like his comedy. However, most of it stems from his image of being a salt of the earth working class Northern lad. If interviews with Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice are to be believed, Kay is an absoloute wanker of the highest order and hence his act is a fraud.

Not many votes for Will Ferrell here. His stuff is just painful, all of it. I honestly dont think I have ever laughed at a single line in his films, and gave up attempting to watch more than 20 mins of anything where he is in the lead role.

Has virtually every female comedian ever been mentioned yet?? If not, them.

Two really funny comedians, and both Aussie's, are Tim Minchin (?) and Adam hills. I was watching Adam hills on c4 last night and although some of it was a bit forced, other bits were incredibly funny

Only know Adam Hills from the Paralympics where I thought he was excellent on The Last Leg.

On the other hand, from what I've seen of Tim Minchin I've been to funnier funerals.

I hate Russell brand the guy needs a haircut and he dresses like 70's porn star. I find it odd girls like his look.

Yep, he still tours in the States.

Ugh. Hate him. He is so terrible. Thankfully he doesn't seem to be as popular as he once was.

Do they? He gets around but I have never heard a woman say she finds him attractive. With that much money anyone could be getting 10 women a week. Mick Hucknall for example.

I have never been so disappointed as when I went to the Chris Rock gig in the olympia about 5 years ago. It was total sh!t. I was lookin forward to it for ages. His warm act stole the show.

Stewart Lee really isn't as funny or as profound as his disciples think he is.
He's a lot funnier than his naysayers think he is though. Best comedian currently working.

Jo Brand has to take the prize for me. Always on about her husband, being fat and vagina jokes...all in that annoying drone. Eugh. Plus 1 for female comedians in general...sorry girls you just don't have it. Men are funny because we need to be to get women to sleep with us. Women try to be funny because they want other girls to like them.

Sorry, but I have to say it:
The most unfunny thing I see on a regular basis is attempted political satire in threads. It's not funny, it's not witty and it's not original.

It's predictable and drags the thread off topic (and on to topics which have numerous threads of their own).

    Back on topic:
Can't stand Sean Lock, Michael McIntyre or Jimmy Carr.

Absolutely love Gervais, O'Brioin & David Mitchell!

Agree with you on the first point but Sean Lock is a breath of fresh air. Very quick witted. Jimmy and McIntyre are drab.

Oh yeah has anyone mentioned the two knobgobblers on Have I Got News For You. Paul Merton and Hislop. They make me nauseous.

I know girls who are far funnier than a lot of lads I know. To be honest, I think it's more that most people in general are just not particularly funny. Not funny enough to be a good stand-up comedian anyway.

John Bishop : thought 50 shades of grey was a B&Q paint chart. What utter predictable unfunny bollox with an annoying scouse twang...

    Brendan grace
He's doin the same material since the 70's
Fine if you have altzimmers and prone to wetting yerself
Which lucky for him his audience is !

His dated humor is as comfortable as a prostate exam from Edward scissor hands .

    Jim Davidson
    Tommy Tiernan

In fairness our home grown talent remains hard to beat. The Healy-Raes are hilarious. Haven't a clue what they're saying but hilarious nonetheless.

Bertie Ahern stopped being funny around 2008.
Ricky Gervais has never said or done anything remotely funny.
Mario Rosenstock is an average impressionist, not a comedian - at least I hope he knows that.

Here are my ones, have never found Vince Vaughan funny at all and could only watch Russell Brand on comedy central for 5 minutes, before switching off. Really, really awful.
Repped on Vince Vaughan. He always seems to play the same character in everything I've seen him in.Also Adam Sandler,he's about as funny as suicide.

Ian Hislop isn't a comedian, more an excellent political analyst who can spot bullshít a mile off. As for Paul Merson I disagree again. Very sharp-witted.

I don't understand why Gervais winds people up the wrong way. I think The Office is Incredibly Funny. Also Extras.

Sick of Michael McIntyre. Was funny to begin with but now he's annoying.

    I'm liking Louis CK
    Doug Stanhope
    Charlie Brooker
    George Carlin
