If it's plastic it won't do anything, it's just for stability/ease of plugging in.

It will be very hard to plug in , you could buy a cheap extension lead and plug it in once and leave it plugged in .

corsair fans are bloody hard to mount, they don't tap the mounting holes in them

EDIT: used cable ties instead because screws were too finicky. Holy balls is this fan loud.

corsair af120 performance. got one to test it out rather than jump the gun and replace them all in one go, it's pretty chilly but that one fan is louder than the 2 x 200mm, CPU fan, and GPU fans at idle.

Oh right, I guess the clue's in the name? Have you tried the quiet edition?

i think the af120 performance runs at like 3000rpm @ full speed. no fan will ever be quiet at those speeds. dial it back!

EDIT: its actually the sp120 performance thats the speedy one, at 2350rpm.

It says 1650 on the corsair website... Could just be an aggressive fan design?

Nah, wouldn't be making enough cfm gains to warrant swapping my current fans out if I was using the quiet ones.

why do you need more airflow? the 600T is probably the best ventilated case on the market.

next week ill be comparing my Gentle typhoons 1850rpm vs the quiet SP120's and will post up what i think of them. if youre in limerick you could borrow 1 or 2 to test if you like.

Did a build for a friend in a 600T a while ago, so you've not gone mad.

Am in Wicklow myself, but I'll keep an eye for your comparison anyway as I'm holding out on the fans for another while until I decide what I'm actually doing.

On another note, got the USB drives for the deaddrops today, gonna get some PTFE and find somewhere to leave them tomorrow.

    Is that mini-itx?

Why not go for the ASRock Z77e-itx. Nicer visually than that.

there is nothing beyond 4 cores on z77 unless you count hyper-threading, which isnt the same

im using it for editing 2.5k footage in davinci resolve and adobe so the x79 platform is well worth it in performance gains

Hope you have a lot of RAM for that too. for loading it all into cache :) That CPU will be great come render time though.

Trying to put motherboard back in here lads,Done the hard work.
Whats bothering me now is the silver part that fits into the case and then the sockets from motherboard fit into it ,
there are little silver pointy things sticking out everywhere, what do you do with them, do you just flatten them or do you pull them back so the motherboard fits in?
