Picked up an unboxed copy of starfox command in smyths for next to nothing for a bus trip yesterday. It takes a while to get used to the controls but its very enjoyable and one I missed when it first was realeased. Still haven't put it down.

It has me thinking how the Wii U could really become a hd DS for the sitting room though, I mean a HD version of this game using twin stick controls for the flight missions, the U pad for commanding your allies etc... it would be awesome. Fancy ass graphics and epic bosses on one screen, tactical workings and map on the Pad. :)

The DS really has some gems on it, if the Wii U can get even half that kind of support and good games it will be a winner.

Interesting article about the initial and continued failure of the Xbox in Japan: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-12-13-why-xbox-failed-in-japan

Brief bit in there about why Resi 4 was on Gamecube.

How's your programming course coming along btw? I happened to spot that RPGMakerv4 yoke for sale on Steam and it reminded me of it for some reason. Is it all browser based the stuff you are doing?

Going well but I missed a load of labs and lectures yesterday on HTML so have to play catch up now. I'm really enjoying it except for the group work but my team are all idiots and I end up doing all the work for it so no wonder it's annoying. The group work is all in bureaucratic BS so not as interesting as programming either.

As far as game design goes it's focusing on casual browser and mobile games which is annoying, also I know more about games than the guy teaching it and he said he hated Deus Ex. I suppose it's a good place to start but I'd rather more creativity in the projects. Also we are using Stencyl to make games for that course and it's a really badly designed program. It's very unintuitive and it keeps throwing up out of memory errors. I'd rather be using gamemaker.

Just packed most of my handhelds back into their boxes & sent them into storage. Having them out on shelf display, being unused day after day just means they're constantly getting covered in dust. Plus I needed to make shelf space for the Wii U Pad & charging cradle/dock.

Found the original purchase receipt off my Mario edition DSi XL too, & some unused Smyths vouchers which are now expired!

Had some crazy dreams last night I was exploring a lush forested maze last night and fighting monsters. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I was sick all day and spent it in bed playing Etrian Odyssey.

If Retr0gamer dreams in 60Hz do his nightmares happen in 50?

Hate when that happens. Actually that reminds me, Game on Dawson St is long gone now yeah? I had tons of those loyalty points things from the 3 current gen consoles and anything else I bought. Was planning on using it for a next gen console. Meh to that now I guess.

Still never forgive those Nintendo w@nkers for wiping out all my stars years ago.

That feeling when you've got your tactics down in Etrian Odyssey, managed to clear the floor of super hard enemies leaving only the boss, attack him, then the boss decides you are taking him out to easily so one shots your medic and ****s you over. Then you realise you've lost an hour and a half of progress. Etrian Odyssey is spending a night in the freezer.

Just after flying back from the UK. My first ever flight on a prop plane.

An ATR-72. There was a thunderstorm where we took off. Was just this massive pitch black cloud at the end of the runway. Not a nice experience!

Folks really do take the smooth ride of jet engine planes for granted. I know I did!

Would love if someone could remember the name of this PS1 game, it's wrecking my head:

It was a very very simple racing game, so simple it looked almost homebrew, even for Playstation 1 standards. The perspective was top-down, on these dingy little cars. It was multiplayer.

You could change your car into all sorts of colours by picking it out of a rainbow of colours jobby (like this http://www.codeproject.com/KB/miscctrl/LeaColourSelector/selcolourdlg.jpg ). Pretty sure you could also edit the name of your cars.

The tracks were simple as well, I think there was items like missiles etc. you could use to hit each other but could be wrong. Sometimes you would actually be starting at the starting line facing the wrong way and would have to turn around and start racing!

It was on a demo PS1 disc as far as I remember. Me and my mate played it for ages, we thought it was a great little game at the time. Alas he can't remember it either.
