David Luiz started in midfield today and by all accounts played well, with romeu injured could be something benitez is considering long term.

I'd definitely get in on that if it was to happen, Cole, Terry, Cahill and Ivanovich is a shít hot defence that will concede rarely, Luiz in midfield could be a goldmine, he certainly has the game for it, read an interview with him yesterday, reckons he can play anywhere at all.

He was brought into Chelsea as a defensive midfielder with excellent creativity. Inexplicably, they started him in his less preferred role as CB.

If Benitez starts to play him as a midfielder, he will be essential. He si wasted as a CB.

Jose Enrique hopeful he will be fit for Liverpool's game with Aston Villa this weekend http://goo.gl/Wj3Lq

Did he get forward much or was he an attacking threat at all? If he just sits then he is really just as useful as if playing centre back and at 6.5m is a bit expensive.

I'm not sure if you are correct about that, as far as I know he has always been deployed somewhere along the backline. In saying that I feel that he certainly has the football to play in a midfield position and has a good eye for a killer pass no doubt, he would certainly have more licence to get forward from time to time in that position and the defence behind him would be as solid as can be.

pics released frpm training showed Sterling wearing green bib
the expected Liverpool team who were wearing orange bibs in training is
    Reina
    Johnson Agger Skrtel Downing
    Lucas Gerrard Allen
    Shelvey Suarez Cole

I'd be very doubtful of that lineup. No natural winger. Rogers likes his width

    This could be problematic.

Any news on Jonny Evans' chance of starting? FPL tagged him as 50% hamstring

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

I have no idea what to do with my team at the moment. Just waiting until I can get my hands on the January wildcard. In the meantime my squad is this:

    Begovic (Howard)
    Wisdom/Clark/Cameron (Ivanovic/Shorey)
    Bale/Nolan/Brunt/Pienaar (Puncheon)
    RVP/Suarez/Berbatov

Obviously Ivanovic and Puncheon would come in for Wisdom and Brunt. I intend on getting rid of Howard, Wisdom and Brunt sooner rather than later and have wanted to upgrade Pienaar to Fellaini but may have missed that boat due to stupidity on my behalf.

Any ideas to salvage things over the festive period would be most welcome?

Considering Fergie has been on about Vidic making a comeback, I'd say not great.

Didnt see the game but Id imagine he sat deep. Having said that hes capable of making a burst forward and definetly has an eye for goal unlike a lot of defensive midfielders. Under benitez I think any defender for 6.5 would be worth it and particularly him if he were to play in a slightly more advanced role.

Just watched most of that video, he seemed to have done really well, one superb thru ball for Hazard and a good shot just wide also, seemed to do everything quite comfortably, I'm sure Benitez will have no complaints.

I don't get the post before this!!

Ye cheers for the video jax. He showed some classy touches that through ball for hazard was something else. Defo one to keep an eye on.

Rodgers has mentioned recently that Sterling is young and has now played more games than he expected.

He also took a penalty in the CL match against FC Nordsjaelland. It's conceivable he could be granted spot-kick duties in the future. They might just go to Torres though, or Lampard if he's on the pitch.

    Bit worried about this weekend.

    Azpilicueta OUT
    Enrique DOUBTFUL
    Bale DOUBTFUL
    Sterling POSSIBLY DROPPED
    Rafael MAY NOT START
    Tevez MAY NOT START

Clark - should start but against Liverpool so probably 0/1 point.

With all of these I'm debating whether its the right time to make the Fletcher -> Berbatov swap?

what makes you think sterling might be dropped? have him in my team too, has brendan rodgers hinted this or do you just think he might be rested?

Tevez is always a rotation risk, but I think he has as much chance as any other of the City strikers of starting. Why are you worried about Rafael not starting?

    Hpnest opinion...

    Azpilicueta OUT (WCC)
    Enrique OUT (INJURED)
    Bale STARTS
Sterling OUT (RESTED, MAY PLAY 20 MINS)
    Rafael STARTS
    Tevez STARTS

A few different sources are stating he may be rested.

I really didn't expect him to start last weekend after Fergie hauling him off. Still don't think he's guaranteed his place. I wouldn't have even considered Sterling not playing until it was mentioned earlier in this thread.

The above list is worst case scenario, the main one I need is Enrique, I don't want to play Clark unless I have to.

I think Enrique has as much chance of being back than Bale
