    Cheers

I got my unlock code from http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/ for £30 and it took 4 days. Thats a little better than the £54 from unlockfrog

Nice one, is Internet sharing working for you after the unlock?

Can you give it a try...just try and switch it on in settings and see if you get an error message. There were a few reports over on wpcentral forums that it wasn't working.

Well after hunting down this phone since early November I finally got my hands on one last week (matt black). It was expensive, so if you can't get it through your business (less the VAT) then it might be an idea to wait for it to come out on Vodafone / O2 or whoever.

For anyone interested, my initial impressions migrating from an old HTC HD7 (and being familiar with my other half's Lumia 800) are as follows:
    - Slightly heavier than my old HD7 and the Lumia 800, but is a brick compared to the iPhone 5. I don't mind it, but others might
    - Rock solid build and quality - even the buttons on the side feel premium
    - Beautiful screen; an improvement over both the old LCD of the HD7 and the AMOLED pentile of the Lumia 800. Remarkably smudge resistant compared to these two
    - Capacitive buttons are slightly yellow looking compared to the other phones, but I've since got used to it
    - Camera performance is a massive improvement over the HD7, and a bit better than the Lumia 800. Most notable improvement is indoor if not using the flash, but results with the flash are very good all the same
    - Battery performance is a huge improvement over the HD7, and a good bit better (so far) than the Lumia 800, even with push email enabled
    - Much quicker than both the HD7 and Lumia 800 when it comes to loading apps, webpages, flicking through photos etc. The other phones don't lag or feel slow until you actually start using the 920
    - The new features of WP8 are mostly great, such as the start screen, IE10, camera features, wallpaper features, improved onenote and office apps, kids corner (I have a toddler) and finally the option to pin protect against app / music purchases
    - Nokia apps such as Drive +, Photobeamer etc are great
    - FINALLY, Ireland gets local bing results via Nokia Maps. I can open Maps or Bing, enter an address or POI and the phone will find it. This was a huge omission from my HD7
    - Skype, although in beta, works great
    - Dragging and dropping videos etc to the phone within Windows Explorer is handy
    - Call quality, reception and such is great. Speakers are better than my HD7
    - Not a single freeze yet, despite what I've read on other forums

    The bad:
    - The vibrate sounds almost like it's faulty - a thin rattle from inside the phone as opposed to the solid vibrate from the HD7 and Lumia 800
    - Zune has been replaced with terrible desktop / metro clients, which each have their own major pitfalls and tendencies to crash. I've had to resort to using Windows Media Player to sync music, which isn't much better
    - XBOX Music features are very cool; retrieves bio and wallpaper for artists, allows you to stream music (€10 per month), however it messes with your existing meta data for your music. I am meticulous with the tagging of my MP3 collection so I've had to turn off the XBOX Music features to keep my collection intact. It was splitting up albums, creating albums that never existed before, deleting album art etc
    - Some apps are still not WP8 compatible, although this should change shortly

I've not tried NFC as the implementation on WP8 seems flawed, and I'm going to get myself a wireless charger once they come down in price. If you don't mind the weight, I think this is a killer phone. Hopefully I'll get at least 2 years out of it like my trusty HD7.

I'd say Nokia might have sorted out their distribution issues by then so you could be looking at €600

    €640-650

The red one is 650 on amazon.de. Interesting that black is the most expensive. I got my pink 800 from there and I'm so tempted..

I have one on pre order for over a month, today was supposed to be the day for shipping, instead the status has changed to 'Not available', so I'd say there's no hope of having it before 2013,

Can't be bothered waiting any longer. Will bet you there will be issues at launch with limited stock + no idea which networks will actually have it.

They just lost me as a customer. Big bad fail Nokia, no other words for it.

it is completely ludicrous to think that some people have been trying to order sim free since november and won't receive their lumia until mid to late january - and the official release is even later than that! It was announced and shown off before the iphone 5 was out, and had they got it out the door at that stage they'd have had a real winner. I thought Nokia were supposed to be supply chain experts?

My brother in law is coming home from the states on Friday, it seems like an AT&T phone only can be bought for $449 with no contract but locked to at&t. it seems too good to be true if it can be unlocked. Is there any drawback to ordering this?

Won't work, I tried it and brought it back an hour later, AT&T refused me the code.

But didn't someone mention that there are working codes to be bought online now?

    Edit: Yep.

Did you have to send your phone to them in Sheffield to get it unlocked? That's what's they are saying now on their website

ok, so just so I understand 100% the comments posted to date please confirm I can get a Nokia Lumia 920 from AT&T in the US for $449 and have it unlocked by using http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/lumia/index.htm or is this only for phones bought in the UK?
If a UK Lumia can be unlocked why not a US Lumia?

I wouldn't risk buying it from AT&T until you actually see people reporting they have had theirs unlocked. So far nobody has reported getting an AT&T Lumia 920 successfully unlocked by a third party unlock code seller. Best thing to do is keep an eye on XDA and threads like this

with so many people going back and forth to the US from Ireland I'm surprised nobody has picked up a Lumia and looked to get it unlocked especially at the price they are quoting...looks like I will have to go for the HTC 8X but I don't want to...

I think the LTE bands are different on the US models

One disadvantage of getting an EE model and getting it unlocked is that OTA updates will come via EE and not directly from Nokia. I guess this could mean delayed updates
