So the boards.ie most recommended car is getting a new suit for 2013:

    skoda-octavia-4_0.jpg
    skoda-octavia-3_0.jpg

It's party piece, the boot has its capacity increased to 590 litres to keep fans happy. Engine line up is similar to the MkVII Golf. Styling and shapre reminds me of the current Jetta.

    Very like the Rapid imo

That's not a bad looking car for what it is. Bit bland and the colour wouldn't be my first choice but I'd take it over a Jetta or Focus saloon.

That's a very nice car imo. You can see the potential for a nice sport kit on it, like the s-line or vrs.

2.0 Tdi linked to DSG box would be sweet.

Looks like someone got the audi A4 drawing and changed all the fillets to chamfers and voila the new octavia.

When i looked at rear lights, i thought it was 2002 A4...

Wonder what the price will be like...Any news on that???

I would take anything over Focus saloon:D
    Hatchbacks - great looking cars.

That's damn nice for an Octavia. I can't see any part that they have purposely made ugly.
Is this a change of direction for skoda?

Here's hoping the vRS will be nice.. Loving it in the first pic above..

Anyone noticed the re-designed badge that makes it's appearance on the Rapid? Gone is the "questionable" green logo to be replaced with a much more stylish (IMHO) black version - think it's a bit smaller too.

No word on pricing yet, but hopefully Skoda won't price it out of the market. Think they have made an error on the Rapid with the Toledo being available for €1,300 less. People will pay extra for a VW badge, but I don't think Skoda quite has the cache to demand that type of premium over a SEAT.

Saw a few of those on Carzone - thay can get expensive if you want a decent spec diesel. And even then it's a bit sparse.

Hope it has a cup holder in the back this time....

VW are slipping - this is not hideous, so why would anyone buy a Jetta?

Lets see if the quality is better than that of the comedy throw back Rapid. I'm sure it is but it'll need to make a quantum leap in plastics quality over its little brother to justify its presumably higher purchase price. Skoda dealers are already crying about the costs of the diesel version of the Rapid, wonder what their reaction to this will be!

Good looking car all the same.

That's a good-looking car IMHO. Is it just a new frock?

"That will be an extra €5k with your own, sir. Would you like to sit down?"

Am I the only one that doesn't like the interior? Reminds me of that new MG on the inside.

Much better looking than the current model anyway so that's a start :p

Not bad in a typically bland but inoffensive VAG way, I can see it doing well.

Heavy flanks though, can't see it looking good on smaller wheels.

Well the Taxi drivers of Ireland will rejoice!

It has slightly better rear leg room and boot space than the predecessor.

So it will be popular with drivers who want something a bit smaller than the 'Superb'.

    Hopefully pricing will be keen.
I agree that they missed a step with the pricing on the "Rapid".
That car is way too expensive for its spartan spec.

Not quite as good looking here without the photoshop.

It looks perfectly respectable, much like the new Golf. VW doesn't exactly push the boat out on design inside or out (not with its mainstream cars anyway) but nothing wrong with a good, practical sensible car.

Toyota does this as well of course. Given that the Golf/Jetta and Corolla are the best selling cars in the world, I don't think either manufacturer willing be movng away from their conservative design philosophies anytime soon.

    Agreed, its actually not bad.
But then again I think the current model is horrible.

Any chance they can make the superb nicer looking?

Superb is getting a facelift around March next year (when the Octavia is due). Hopefully we'll see engine improvements too.

Don't think they can do much to fix the looks of the Superb though - the roof line is just too long to do anything with.

They can do a bit with the rear quarter though which imo would vastly improve the overall appearance. But going by Skoda's previous mid life facelifts it will be very subtle.

If they just clean up the deliberately ugly front grill and rear lights, it'll be as good-looking as the Passat (not hard, I know).

Rear is almost identical to the Audi A6 (C6 model)
