Aware of that.....doesn't change the fact that I'm unhappy!

Quick question, I've got the opportunity to buy a 920 tomorrow from Thai provider AIS. I'm just wondering 2 things.

    1. Is there any issues with getting this to work in Ireland and/or the States.

    2. Am I correct in assuming that all 920's have 4G capabilities?

Just worried that I'll pick this up tomorrow and be stuck with a dud when I get back to the states. I know it's quad-band but I'm a bit lost on the 4G aspect.

    Thanks in advance!

Looks like expansys.ie actually have the Lumia 920 in stock now. . . for 705 euro :/

Wowsers! €700+ is just not worth it. I'd say price will settle down to a more realistic level in January when availability issue are addressed, probably €600ish.

As I stated earlier in this thread...

The Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 will launch officially in Ireland on 01.02.2013.
They will be available online in some channels from week commencing 21.01.2013

I wouldn't ever deal with expansys again. I got an 8X off them, very fast delivery in all fairness. It was faulty, and I sent it back, and they got it on the 27th Nov. Not a word since. I had to ring them to even find out if they got it. They don't answer phones, emails or Twitter (I got one reply looking for my RMA number but when I replied with that about a minute after I got the message, I heard nothing back, despite the account posting a few times since) - I've just opened a claim with PayPal. Their facebook page is full of people complaining about poor response times.

4G LTE works okay in the USA. Blazingly fast actually, i've been really impressed.

The only issue i can think of would be that the "Quad Band" in Asia may be different than a euro "Quad band"?

AFAIK the 4g functionality is region specific-ish.

But it's a little mixed. I think that a US 920 should work with 4g on any US provider and may also work on some EU providers, and similarly an EU 920 should work on any (or at least most) EU providers and may work on some US providers.

I think 2g/3g functionality should be pretty universal for all GSM providers.

Wow the Singapore 920 has 9 LTE bands!!

Looks like a lot of the interest is genuine in Lumia 920. A 4x increase of Windows OS phones is being reported to access Facebook: URL="http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2012/12/09/reading-the-mau-tea-leaves-windows-phone-does-indeed-appear-to-be-having-a-big-christmas/"]Article[/URL. This is probably why people are seeing shortages. It looks like its due to demand rather than supply.

I think its time to buy a 920 from Orange in Belfast on that EE deal and buy the unlock

have the option of maybe picking of the 920 in the USA via a family member - I am looking to get one sent over...

    2 questions:

    1. I presume a 920 sourced from the US will work in Ireland (once I get it unlocked)

    2. Are there any vendors in the US apart from Expansys selling unlocked 920s?

Going to the US in January myself so I've been looking into it. As far as I'm aware getting unlock codes for AT&T Lumia 920 is not possible at the moment and they have that nasty AT&T branding. What Griffinx has linked to there is people getting unlock codes for the EE locked Lumia 920s in the UK. You can buy properly unlocked Lumia from US based online retailers like Expansys.com and Negri but they are priced pretty similar to European prices at the moment so not much point really.

Had a look an ee.co.uk and can't see how much a contract free 920 is but I presume somwhere between 500-600...will probably just wait until Feb 1 and the release in Ireland - will get the HTC8X now (is getting fairly OK reviews) and pass to the wife in Feb when I will pick up the 920

Anyone know who is doing the best deal on the 8X? I presume I can buy it unlocked here - Three.ie seems to be the cheapest?

Has anyone tried out the new mobile provided - very chap PAYG options - http://www.48months.ie/

Yeah, I was the proud owner of a black 920 for an hour, and had to hand it back because AT&T wouldn't unlock it. So cross that off the list.

They are £399 but this includes a charging plate worth about £40 I think..They are however locked to EE but can be unlocked.
