the man has a point. Why he's making it I don't know but that doesn't mean it's not a point :)

Can you play Wii games on the WiiU controller screen? Can you play all WiiU games on it or is there a subset that support it?

    Also,don't ever change Wampy :)

    no
wii games are locked out of wii u hardware because _piracy_ not all wii u games support off-tv play. But going forward i'm sure it'll be a big feature, it's one i enjoy the most.

lol, last page belonged to wampyrus77...
I'm not even sure where to start.

    Cheers
OffTV play would be a huge selling point for me, but no Wii support... well I might as well just move my Wii to another room and take the portable out of the attic, that gives me Off-TV support with far less cash outlay :)
I take it then it's analogous to the DSiMode / 3DS mode split, so Wiisploits can't be used to leverage WiiU hardware and therefore exploits from the Wii can't be used to pry the WiiU open? Seems cruel to the law-abiding owners.... I take it then there's no chance they've implemented a proprietary "WiiFlow" solution that lets you install your Wii games to hard drive and run them from there instead of having to juggle discs constantly? *sigh* And they call it progress...

Why, do they have screens in the middle that you can play games on as well? Weird, never noticed.

    Allow me to elaborate further:

He was discussing how you cannot play a Wii game with the game showing on the Wii U game pad. How it would be nice if Wii games could be played on the gamepad.

I guess with the majority of Wii games this would/could never be possible, due to the motion control aspect of these games, and how the motion controls were an integral part of the games.

I'd say this will be one of the objectives to achieve, when the security is eventually broken on the Wii U. I'd say its perfectly possible to have Wii & marketplace stuff run on the gamepad. Maybe Nintendo might even implement it themselves through an update at some stage, because as I said, this will definitely be a goal for hackers

The problem would be you'd still need to play with a Wiimote, and there's no sensor bar for the pad... and even if there was, the movements would have to be toned down so much that it'd make games requiring precision almost unplayable.

There's a sensor bar in the pad itself just above the display so it could be done. I've seen YouTube vids of peeps playing BO2 using their wiimotes on it. Kinda looking forward to trying that when I eventually get it.

Keep 'em honest, Wampy my boy. Shine the light of justice on their murky bricks and mortar shennanigans!

Yeah, I had dreams of taking the WiiU pad, a wiimote and my GH drums out to the car for some skinbashing practice that doesn't wake the kids. Nearly 4 years on and I've still never used those drums. Pesky daughters and their precious sleep... But as you say, the hackers will work on it - it's a legitimate non-piratey goal that let's them feel like they're fighting "the man". A wise Nintendo would block the known exploit games and let the Wii games through. Are they really going to claim that piracy on the Wii impacted sales? If Piracy was that prevalent on the Wii then Zack and Wikki would have sold better. Badum-tish. Their "core" audience is kids and pensioner who have neither the interest nor the means to hack.

Piracy was/is rife on the Wii, as it's so easy to hack. And it seems particularly bad is some parts of the world. I was in Brazil last summer, where games are quite expensive, so people get Wiis and hack 'em.

No it didn't. If you're talking about 2 e3s ago, that was just a tech demo; otherwise there's been no mention of Zelda.

Given some of the amazing scoops he's come up with, I'm pretty sure Wampy gets invited to a different E3 to the one you proles go to. Stop trying to pull him off his cloud just because his halo burns so bright it makes your eyes sting. with Jealousy! and also the Brightness!
