Awesome! Its on a Saturday! Day off. Front row seats for nothing to happen.
Including the leap year dates it should have happened years ago.

Unless, the hippies who added up the dates in the 60's INCLUDED the leap year days, they could be right, the Mayan calander will end... to start a new 26,000 year cycle of the earth around the Milky Way, that is all.

Pretty amazing calander all the same!

Nope its a Friday so off to work with you. And just to point out that the leap year thing is a red herring ,the maya went by the lineage of the earth with the sun with the milky way and that kind of thing, Astral alignments and so on so dates dont matter, but it is that date that it all lines up!

Now do i think it will end.....;);):eek:.....of course not. We are too far away for even a GRB to effect us and anything else like an asteroid or a super volcano or a mega tsunami or whatever we would have plenty of notice. If it were even a CME we would get a weeks notice at least so I wont get out my tin foil hat just yet.

    :( awwww!!!!!!!!!!!

I am still amazed at how they worked out the calendar though all those thousands of years ago, when the rest of the plant thought the world was flat and humans were only around for at least 5000 years or some other such religious rubbish.

Pretty damn impressive work none the less.

Oh absolutely ancient man is often overlooked by our modern world in terms of achievement but while the Maya could make a super duper calender and built the some of the most impressive structures on Earth...they did poison their only water supply by cutting off the heads of their own people and throwing them into their sacred lake to appease the Gods, thus wiping themselves out! Now that wasn't very clever was it?

    I know.

Given that they had a life expectancy of about 25 years its amazing they got anything done at all.

its simple really and how anyone hasnt figured it out yet

the world is not going to end, what actually happened was the guy tasked with writting the calender went on a tea break and when he came back forgot where he was up to and thought ah sod it and gave up and we have all been panicking since.

its a mayan practical joke lol
