I don't get a bonus but some family's have a profit share arrangement in the company's they work with its not paid at Christmas though I don't think the idea of a Christmas bonus is as common as it use to be.

Think I'm supposed to get 10-15 percent depending on company performance. Don't know if you get anything after being there only 2 months but I'm just happy to finally have a job anyway.

Also get nearly 2 weeks off so can't complain!

Won't get any official bonus but ill be brought out for a few pints and won't have to put my hand in my pocket at all that night.
Can't ask for much more than that I suppose.

Generally get it a few months into the following year after the year end figures are all compiled.

Well on track to get one again in a few months, so a nice little bit extra.

My Christmas bonus this year is that I don't have to work Christmas Day like last year. Horray :):)

Expecting f all tbh.... mentioned to us that there was a bonus scheme where 1000 would be split between the staff (22 of us) but that 1000 would only be handed over by the company if the stores targets (margin/quality) were met.... and after having a look at the targets, it was pretty obvious they weren't planning on giving us the cash....

So they say we will get one... but then add in a clause really which allows them to not..

    Retail for ya

I'm spending my Christmas in Thailand on my honeymoon so that's kind of a bonus I guess.

And yes, as per above I am going on about it rather a lot.

I'll be doing the same except in January. Leave a note somewhere and I'll try find it!

I really, really hope you don't get a Christmas bonus for practising psychotherapy on poor innocent clients.

Why not? If I was to be paid one it would be the organisation that pays not the client.

To be honest, I'd much rather have a slightly higher wage and no bonus than a lower wage and a big bonus.

When I get paid X and the company pays me X - I'm never upset or disappointed.

When I get paid Y and *maybe* a bonus - I always end up disappointed. And then you hear all these stories about companies deciding nobody gets a bonus this year, for whatever reason. It just seems like an easy carrot to dangle to get quality employees in the door that can be dropped at the first hint of trouble. Even when companies are profitable, I've seen them cancel bonuses (and, of course, it's always 'non-exec' level bonuses).

Being left disappointed shouldn't really come into it, you either deliver on the criteria in order to achieve bonus or you don't.

Companies usually can change bonus structure at anytime and I don't doubt companies are likely making bonus criteria more difficult in order to save on cost though they'd never admit to us!

Its just a means they want to make sure that people have more of an incentive to achieve & over achieve in order to get there bonus. It does work I get a quarterly bonus & year end bonus & the criteria is constantly changing.
