I've had a double-sided stove installed with a slab of Siltech fireproof board surrounding it on either side of the internal block wall the chimney is set in. I'm getting mixed reports as to how well it would work if coated with a layer of skim coat plaster and am wondering if anyone here had experience with it. Will the plaster stick or would it be prone to cracking? Thanks.

For anyone searching in the future, the consensus was no, you shouldn't apply skim coat to Siltech board.

    +1 on that.
The heat from the stove will crack the skim coat...
