    let me see where do i start.piece of shxt.well my one was.and 03.rings went,pistons went,turbo went,,

black smoke every where,,,,there is no other van on the market than can give you more trouble with sensors than this one.my one the dash was like a christmass tree with the lights coming on

now you could be lucky.if you buy it straight off an post you can gaurantee they were well serviced but not taken in the dints and scratches that postmen do to them:D

i certainly will not buy one again.woulnt mind a mate advised me not to buy a renault, but i did anyway but at the end of the day he was right

sold it and a guy was going to put an engine into her for resale but that was his business as it was out of my hands

since that scrap left my life i bought a fiat doblo cargo 1.3mjtd
all i can say is what a dream to drive and a fantastic economical engine,,maybe i just got lucky,,,

best of luck what ever you decide to do:p

I don't see anything wrong with Renault commericals in general. But if the van was previously abused then it will give you trouble. But plenty of people have bought them trouble free. My dad has a Renault master 2006 which he bought new. It was 200k km on it the only thing that has ever gone wrong with it was one wheel bearing. That is pure reliability. It still is on original bushings track rod ends. A Renault mechanic checked it over from head to toe and said it was perfect he couldn't even believe the condition. My father has owned several of all the Renault commerical range and has had no hassle with any. However he has never owned any of the new model kangoos. The one thing I will say about Renault is if you mind them they will cause you zero trouble. However they are ever abused they can quickly turn into a nightmare they really don't take abuse well. So really you need to get one that was minded

Thanks for the feedback Sanbrafyffe. Sorry to hear you had so much trouble from yours. The one we're thinking of buying is straight from the post office fleet but I have my reservations, hence why I'm trying to do some homework on this.

Anybody else got any good/bad stories?

renault have sorted many of their problems since around 2005. i cant imagine a new model kangoo giving anymore trouble than another van. i was looking at them myself, they are ridiculously cheap but id have to spray it a different colour, couldnt stand the postman pat jokes :)

The 09 that the OP is talking about is the newer model and not the same as the 03 model.

the fiat fiorino looks cool enough. gets good enough reviews too. not quite as cheap as the ex post kangoos but the 1.3mjet is a good engine

I drove an 02 Kangoo at work for ten years and it had about 74K on the clock. I would not be a Renault fan and had little choice in what to get in 02 but the Kangoo has given good enough service.

I am used to driving reliable Toyota models so it was annoying to have small things go wrong with the Kangoo - locks seizing, wiper mechanism failing and things like that. However, some of the problems were the result of poor servicing so I cannot blame the Kangoo for that. It was a powerful enough van and didn't give any major trouble. I was kind to the Kangoo and the Kangoo looked after me for ten years. I don't have any knowledge of the newer models.

Can't believe how cheap the Kangoo are going for secondhand.

The Kangoo II is also sold by Mercedes-Benz as the Mercedes-Benz Citan with a revised front design, and was launched in September 2012.

Surely they can't be that bad if Mercedes are sticking their badges on them?

A Kangoo would suit me for work.

i used to live across the road from a Renault garage in co. galway. as far as i know the village i lived in had two Renault post vans. almost every day when i walked passed, one of the vans was either up on the lift or parked in the garage its self.

Maybe a Transit Connect would be a better bet then. More expensive though.

A work colleague has a 2010 model which has recently given him injector problems, he got 2 of the injectors reconditioned only to discover that the injector pump is at fault.
