I dont want to sound preachy, but if you are going to pay $1 for this it would probably be better served if you just pirated the games.

By the time Paypal take their cut your talking about 50-60c going to whoever you decided.

Anywho, Saints Row 3 was a really fun game, I highly recommend trying it out.

As for the split, I think whatever way you split it, its a decent cause.

Charities: don't need to explain these

THQ: people have made the argument that they are a struggling company and why do they deserve your money more than the charities, I'm sure this isn't there main goal, and regardless of what their goal is, by putting up their products like this they are going to raise good money for these charities. I don't see any other studios doing anything?

HumbleBundle: Well they facilitate these things, with out them there would be no bundles.

And if hundreds of thousands send that amount? not too trivial then!

Currently it's made over 2 million, woah!

Where do you actually download the games from? Does it provide a link or do you have to go install Steam etc and download from there?

You will need to install steam and download from there.

Yeah, because THQ not being able to run their business effectively is a much more worthy cause than Child's Play or the Red Cross. I always give a small bit of the purchase price to the developers and HIB themselves but I always weight it towards charity.

I really hope that emoticon at the end means you're just making a very poorly judged joke but I have my doubts.
    Why are you so dismissive?

If you are looking at it in terms of who is deserving of the money for what you are paying for then why shouldn't someone weight it towards THQ? There's nothing stopping anyone making a 100% donation to these charities who are completely unrelated to whats on offer.

If I already have one or more of these games on Steam, can I gift the keys I get in this bundle?

No (see explanation here). You can gift the entire bundle by purchasing another one, but bundles cannot be split (according to their site anyway).

It's such a bargain this part is largely irrelevant

    Thanks OP.

Love Company of Heroes but haven't been able to get my copy to work on my windows 7 machine.

Hopefully will have more luck with this copy.

    worth a punt anyway for $1 :D

HumbleBundle: Well they facilitate these things, with out them there would be no bundles.

The PayPal transaction fee is 30c, which was a big part of them going away from offering the option of paying 1c for a bundle.

I always try to chip in a little more but you have to remember plenty of people will have at least one if not more of the games in the bundles to begin with, so it's not comparing apples with apples - in this bundle the only 'new' games for me were Red Faction, Darksiders and Saint's Row 3.

It's definitely a whole hell of alot better than pirating on a lot of levels to even give a dollar, that was an incredibly incendiary thing to say.

They could possibly get it lower - if they're set up to use Paypal micropayments the fee is 5% + $0.05, so on $1 would only cost them 10c instead of 32.9c.

Great bargain ,will reinvigorate my interest in PC gaming again.
The price of console games in comparison is crazy,I dont know how people afford it,especially with newer games becoming shorter and shorter.

How is it? People paying a dollar are clogging up the key delivery system and lowering the average price, thus lowering the price for the premium content sr3. For roughly €0.50, split 4 ways? not too much in it in my opinion

It's a dollar for all these games, pirating them would be too much hassle in comparison.

However they are getting an average of 5 dollars 50 odd because they've included Saints Row 3 at the extra.. a clever move.

If they priced it at 10 dollars minimum it wouldn't be generating anywhere close to the hype.

This deal is good for everyone, the customer, THQ, the charities, paypal, humble bundle, everyone. The only thing that takes a hit is THQ future sales and their image.. but lets face it, they are up **** creek which is why they are taking these drastic measures.

So THQ is getting people who never play games to hand over money one must assume that this promotion is a success.

Well presumably HB and THQ decided it was worth it.

As for "premium content", I wish I'd only payed the minimum, having just hit a game ending bug in SR3.

Bought the bundle incl. Saints Row 3, can't run it on the laptop so I think now's the perfect excuse to start building my desktop or get an alienware!

Three of those games have sequels just out or just around the corner. Maybe they are hoping that getting more people to play them now will boost the interest in the sequels.

Tempted to buy this just for the sake of it (doubt my pc could run any of them). Are they all first person shooter games (except SR3, of course)?

Been looking to get a racing game for a while now but don't want to spend a lot (as i know my PC will struggle to run anything worthwhile).

Only Metro 2033 is an FPS. Red Faction is a third person shooter, Company of Heroes is a real time strategy, and Saints Row and Darksiders are classed as action-adventures. Saints Row is GTA-like, while Darksiders is Zelda-like.

No racing games, but Steam will be having a Christmas sale in the next few weeks, you might see something that'd suit your computer then. The likes of Trackmania is always sub-€5 - it doesn't need a great computer to run, but I don't know what type of racing you want. Origin is also having a sale throughout December. You can get Need for Speed: SHIFT for €7.49 today (50% off) if you fancy an arcade racer.

Oh I know what Saint's Row is, alright (it's the only one of the games I'd be familiar with).

Seen as you seem to know your stuff with regards to gaming, would you have any idea of a racer that might be something along the lines of, say... Project Gotham Racing? That's a game I used to play a lot. It was more of a simulator type game, but not overly serious (wasnt as serious as Gran Turismo and the likes, but not as cartoony as most arcade racers).

Of the racing games I've played over the last few years, the following might interest you.

The last game made by Bizarre Creations (PGR developer) was called Blur. Similar to PGR, but with a few more arcadey elements (like Mario Kart power-ups, but with real cars). It's ~18 months old now, so it might be able to run on your computer. It's currently €20 on Steam.

Another one, similar to Blur and released at the same time, is Split/Second. Not as easy to find as a download on PC, you can get a disc copy from Amazon UK for £7.60.

One of the best racing games of this generation is Burnout Paradise. Currently €15 on Steam, but will be discounted further during the Christmas sale. Huge open world and great online play.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is another popular one. Open world like Burnout, and you switch between playing as a cop or a racer. €20 on Steam.

Those all sound pretty good. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for this Christmas Sale. I'd just be a bit hesitant to spend €20 on a game that might work on my PC :/

I appreciate your help though. I'll certainly check out Blur if it's anything like you describe (sounds like a good laugh).

Currently downloading Saints Row 3, so hopefully that'll keep me entertained for a while. Cheers RobertFoster :)

It's peoples own fault if they had trouble getting the keys? You can either have an account or when you pay there is a link right there, on the page, to go to your keys.
