    1 point, Sahin isn't a DM.

    No point playing him there.

He's not got the tackling ability, or the stamina to play as an effective DM.

He's looked at his best with Liverpool as the furthest forward of the middle 3.

    Yeah correct.
What if we invert that and play
    ----Henderson---Shelvey----
    Sahin

Poor Andy Carroll. He's just a complete disaster.

Totally. Never where he should be on the pitch. Can't score to save his life. And now injury prone to boot. No one in their right mind will buy him. We're stuck with him I'm afraid.

Sahin is more a deep lying playmaker so

    Henderson---Sahin

    Shelvey

    Not gonna happen tho.

Benitez saying in the press how unfit Chelsea are at the moment and how he is going to have to really up rotation in order to get the squad to the levels he needs.

He'd probably have a **** attack at the current state of ours. Half of them looking dead on their feet and burnt out already.

Sterling, Allen, Gerrard all desperately need a rest imo. Lucas straight back into the squad, although delighted to have him back, worries me. I hope we're not too foolish with him yet.

Yeah thats what i assumed & I put him at the base of the midfield in my team.
    Its not gonna happen though.

    Midfield today will be :(

    Lucas----Allen
    ----Gerrard----

I would not be starting Lucas today. We shouldn't need him to beat Southampton. If we are a couple of goals up with 20 mins to go then bring Lucas on. I would also rest Gerrard (he can't manage 3 games in a week), Sterling (needs a rest) & Allen (looks fcuked). If he don't play Sahin today its a joke & he may as well fcuk back to madrid
We have a tough game against Udinese on Thursday, so lets keep a few of the bigger names fresh for that

    My team would be :

    Reina
    -Johnson --- Skrtel --- Agger --- Enrique
    Sahin

    Henderson---Shelvey

    Suso
    Suarez
    Assiadi

    Chances of that happening 0%

    Change it to:

    Reina
    -Johnson --- Skrtel --- Agger --- Enrique
    Henderson
    Sahin

    Shelvey
    --Suso
    Suarez
    Assiadi--

    And I'd agree 100%.

I'd have him playing the most forward of the 3 Midfielders:

    --Lucas----
    Allen-
    ---Sahin----

With Allen dropping deep as that Deep Lying Playmaker.

I don't know though. We havn't seen the best of Sahin, thats for sure. He could do with a run of games, to build confidence.

    Thursday

    Reina
    Wisdom, Coates, Carra, Downing
    Henderson, Sahin, Suso
    Assaidi, Suarez, Shelvey

It will be full strength to today and it has to be. He can't afford not to win this one, a draw or lose and the pressure will really mount on him. I think until we string some wins together and move up the table he won't risk resting guys like Gerrard, Allen, Sterling etc. If he rested Gerrard today and we didn't win the media would have a field day.

Yeah it is. Shouldn't be but they're trying to bring it in line with other competitions I think. Open to correction tho.

    No they weren't.

Suffice to say, I disagree. Thought he was excellent in the two games against Chelsea in particular.
He was let go because he didn't fit the system at all. It's been hard enough to get the players to buy into Rodgers system already without a donkey up front who they could punt the ball to at times of desperation. I think he wanted to completely eliminate that option.

With the results as they were there would be big pressure to start Carroll and then we'd look even worse. He'd have to completely change his system and style to suit him. It would be far to tedious to have do it. I mean I could understand the disappointment about him leaving if he could actually score goals in another system but he can't, he's useless. If we are desperate for a goal in the last 10 mintues there's about 10 other options in the current squad I'd use before Andy Carroll.

It's been said many times before, but Danny Graham? Why was he able to implement him in his style at Swansea but not Carroll at Liverpool?

I have to disagree that you couldn't do with Carroll. I'm not saying he's anything special or anything I just don't buy that the likes of Agger up front can have the same impact. Even earlier on in the season when Carroll came on against City at Anfield I thought he did reasonably well.

Yeah they're after changing it around for some reason, morocco are in it so i assume hell be going to it

It's plainly obvious that they've been overworked. Giving them a few days (and a game's) break will only do them good. Neither should be needed to beat So'ton (Or Lucas for that matter).

Well at least he will to play at it.. More than he is getting at the moment.

Was laughed at by a few here during the summer for suggesting he'd be a very good signing :) Would have been great to have him for the time Lucas wasn't around. Has a bit of everything in his game and is versatile too. Another really good display from him, goal was a reward.

I remember some saying he'd be a good option though! ;)

just to say...i don't like Lucas starting today.

    at all.

there shouldn't be any need, and he should, at most, be on the bench, or even rested until our European game.

    i don't like this.
