It's a playing field of all sorts of people, of all sorts of backgrounds and different strategies and paths, cultures and languages, playing itself over a limited and systematic lifepsan, until the cycle repeat itself until physics decides otherwise. Trying to fully understand that playing field and reduce it to something meaningful is ultimately impossible , and futile. Rather than what life is about, it should be easier to identify what life is not about.

That goes a very long way in life I find. :)

Later12 has already said what I think life should be all about:

Life is all about leaving the world in a better way than you found it, however you do it, according to your talents.

I don't think we should think of 'life' as something that exists to serve us individually, consequences be damned.

And I'd add-find what makes you happy (even if that takes years of searching), or at least content, and do it for the rest of your life.

Also having friends and family who love you and are supportive is hugely important to our mental health and quality of life. A strong sense of community and empathy with those around us is important too.

Above all-be kind to our fellow man and the other species we share our world with, and do no harm.

Life seriously isn't about anything. It's just you trying to be happy, trying to fulfil your aspirations as best you can and being good and kind to people around you because life isn't all about you either. So if take others into consideration, isn't that helping them have a better time in their lives too?

Nothing more to it really, imo.

Everyone has a brain, but not everyone knows how to use it correctly

I can see adverts soon on radio telefis eireann on how to use the human brain. How can you activate your brain in 3 steps for dummy's. Enter your activation code ....... you have entered the wrong code please try again.

The only thing that comes to mind of a person that cannot use their brain are zombies that were hit in the eyes with that crushed up dust from the puffer-fish, so I am sure most all people have it but just won't use it. Brains that is, if we all just had one. I wish I had a brain, now i'm in the wizard of Oz...brain malfunction.

In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

I enjoyed that last sing-song, let's have another, I've just downed half a glass of medium sherry and I'm fukcing flying, here we go

HAPPINESS, HAPPINESS, THE GREATEST GIFT THAT I POSSESS
I THANK THE LORD THAT I'VE BEEN BLESSED
WITH MORE THAN MY SHARE OF HAPPINESS

TO ME THIS WORLD IS A WONDERFUL PLACE
I'M THE LUCKIEST HUMAN IN THE HUMAN RACE
I'VE GOT NO SILVER AND I'VE GOT NO GOLD
BUT I'VE GOT HAPPINESS IN MY SOUL

Ultimately I think the idea is to find an attractive mate and reproduce. That's what we're born to do.

Of course the in-between part is important too. That means enjoying ourselves as much as we can afford to with the money we work hard to get.

We work hard for many reasons. To fulfil ourselves as individuals, to leave a better world for the next generation and make a more enjoyable one for ourselves.

There's a certain way we must enjoy ourselves though. This can be in many many forms but it should be sustainable, meaning it should not cause harm to our health and not drain our finances for our futures.

Sex plays a huge part in our role on earth though!

So what do you hold dear? Family, sport, watching soaps?
What have you decided to make life about if you don't believe it's about anything?

i hold my family dear, i care about them more than anything, other than that i have as good a time as i can doing whatever i want as long as i dont cause harm to other people. i dont care for the law, not trying to sound hard or whatever but i have one chance at life it was almost taken from me not so long ago and now i just do what i want.

One last song, then I'm out of here

    WHEN I LOOK BACK, I CAN'T FORGET
    THE FRIENDS I'VE MET
    AND THE THINGS THEY'VE DONE
I THANK 'EM ALL, IT'S BEEN GREAT FUN
AS FOR ME, I HAVE NO DOUBT
THAT'S WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT

Contentment is wealth, that is all you should ever really need is contentment.

FU€k me no. If I am ever content please kill me. Content as in "ah sure it could be worse" or "be happy with what you have". Fu€k you serfs contentment is for losers.

You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.

Why should you spend your life making the world better for everybody after you die? What is the point?

That's a very nihilistic stance. What's the point in not wanting to further refine and enhance civilization for not only ourselves but for future generations?

    Twilight. That's what it's all about. :p

No, seriously, I think it's something along this line..

I think I've discovered the secret of life - you just hang around until you get used to it.

That's not contentment. That's resignation or settling; that you don't really have the life you want but you feel it would be churlish to complain about what you have because-
"at least I have a job, my health", "others worse off than me" bla bla.

Contentment is not for "losers". Being content in life is the greatest happiness you can achieve I think. Fuck all that go-getting-money-driven **** that people think will make them happy. It never does. Deep down most people instinctively know what happiness is about in life-friends, family, community, interesting and fulfilling work, security, lack of money/health problems, an interesting inner life. All that good stuff.

Can't remember who said it but "nobody ever said on their deathbed I wish I'd spent more time in the office", about sums it up.
