Mondeo oil leak?

2001 2.0 TDi, recently serviced, oil level seems ok. But the battery cradle is covered in what looks like fresh oil, and there's a bit of a hot smell of oil in the cabin. Dipstick is firmly in place.

Have I an oil leak? Does this sound familiar to anyone here?

It sounds like a split intercooler pipe. On the 2001 Mondeo there is a pipe right beside the battery box that is a very common failure on them so that's where I would look first if I were you.

Oh I didn't check that. That happened before, a long time ago. Sounds like it alright. Will check now. Thanks!
