Peugeot 406 - grommits problem

    Looking for helP please.

    Bought an 04 2ltr diesel in may from a peugeot main dealer in cork. I live in Dublin (from cork)

    Delighted with the car only about 2 months agO there was desperate sloshing of water at passenger side. Rang dealer explained I can't get home mid week. He said its only a small thing the grommits need draining go to nearest main Peugeot dealer they'd do it free of charge.

    Did this, the guy at main dealer wasn't very happy to go it but did.

    The problem is its back again. Does this mean water is getting in somewhere? Could I do this myself (small tiny girl!) if its that simple to do?
    Also what are grommits?

    Please help

    How is the water getting in?

    There's a grommet at the bulkhead on the passengers side, might be missing.

    As for drying it out, cloths, a dehumidifier and heater on full is all I can recommend...

    This is how to do it with an Audi (couldn't find a video with a Peugeot). Mightn't be exactly the same but should give you an idea. The grommit is just the rubber thing in the drainage hole that gets blocked. It's quite satisfying to unblock it and watch all the water pour out :)

    I'd get it back to the garage you bought it from asap....:eek:
    There are alot of electrical connections under the drivers footwell on the 406's and when they get water ingress all sorts of gremils can happen with wipers/lights etc..:eek:

    As said above you need to get the source of the leak.

    Look at it this way,theres no point in having to empty a saucepan of water every few days if you have a leaking ceiling...You need to get a plumber to fix the leak.
