So last night, myself and the wife went to supermarket to get a few groceries. We bought our stuff, hopped backed into the car and drove toward the car park exit. Now, it was busy so the cars were all moving fairly slowly. Anyway, I saw this woman coming out of the shop, put her groceries on the roof of her red mini cooper, unlock the door, hop into her car and drove off with the the bag of groceries still on the roof.
As I said all the cars were moving slowly towards the exit in 2 lanes, so I gave her a little beep to get her attention and I started pointing at the roof of her car. Yer wan starts shouting and roaring out the window, "who the fcuk are you to start hooting at me?! who do you think you are?", all very aggressively. She gave me the finger and took off, you have to turn right when exiting the car park, as she took the right the bag of shopping came off the roof and went all over the road, burst carton of milk, bread, broken jam jars, exploding 2 litre bottles of coke all over the road. I pulled up beside her, gave her another little beep and a smile and drove off! All I was doing was trying to alert her to the fact that she left her shopping on the roof of her car and all I got was agression and abuse. Serves the wagon right....

You did the right thing, but still got the entertainment out of it.

People who say this never ever include themselves.

Nice one on trying to be nice OP.

Huh? Include themselves in what? Not being nice to themselves, or themselves being arseholes?
Sure very few people are actually nice to themselves, and we can all be arseholes.
Really don't understand what you're saying.

    Are you not "people"?

Most people that I have encountered are as nice to me as I am to them. So pretty damn nice actually.

Yeh, there are arseholes, but they are in the minority, and whatever anyone says about "circumstance" or any of that crap. People who are arseholes, choose to be arseholes.

Cool story OP, she got what she deserved!

You were being an arsehole. You nearly ruined it. Everyone in slowly moving traffic, doing their shopping on a horrible, dull night. Some wagon drives off with shopping on the top of her car and it goes everywhere. It brightens everyone's day and YOU NEARLY RUINED IT!

I like the drunken "beeps" myself. Starts off beeping randomly and then goes and pukes in the corner before falling asleep in a ditch.

    A sleepy beep.

She got what she deserved, and hopefully she'll remember that before she explodes at someone else.

I hope she had a huge mess to clean up :p

Actually, reminds me of a few weeks ago, the school bus was pulling off and I noticed that there was one child left behind - the teachers were all shouting and waving trying to get his attention but he was oblivious..
So I followed him in my car to the school gate beeping at him over and over, tried to go on the other side of the road to reach his window to try and gesture to him, but he just looked at me angrily like I was a nutter, waved me away, and sped up. Meh. I tried - not my fault he just thought I was trying to overtake him or whatever he thought.

So, on the basis of their being *some* rude people out there (a minority in my experience) "people" are arseholes - and you make a point of not being helpful to others... on the basis of some rude people? Really? You wouldn't help someone with for instance a buggy up steps?

Last winter something similar happened to me!

I was a passenger in a car on my way to work. There was a long delay in traffic and I noticed the person in the car on front had left their gloves and hat on the roof.
I hopped out of my car and tapped on the girls window and she glared at me, I said through the window you have left your hat on top of your car, she gestured that she could hear me so I reached over and grabbed the hat to show her. She then shouted F**K off and just ignored me!

Keep in mind I was dressed in a suit and wool coat so I dont think I looked particularly dangerous! I put her hat back on the roof and felt very foolish as I walked back to my car where my boyfriend was in hysterics!

    Never again!

It's easy to mistake someone good intentions. I was picking the folks up from the airport there a little while back and as I was waiting a while I had turned the engine off and the lights out. With all the commotion of getting them and their bags into the car and asking how they got on etc, I had forgotten to turn my lights back on. It's not immediately apparent in the airport because it's very well lit, anyway some lad starts blowing his horn and making on these hand gestures at me. I hadn't a clue what he was trying to communicate. So I just gave him this puzzled look like 'wtf is your problem mate'. It's wasn't until I exited the airport that I noticed I hadn't my lights on. I felt like such a idiot.

I think that qualifies as trying to be nice.
