Sorry but Johnson, Agger and Sterling are essential in this team.

No. Wisdom/Kelly/Coates/etc can fill in for those players.

Get back to me when you see Shelvey as our only striker in a league game very soon.

Sterling aint essential to this team at the moment. He's not at that level yet.

2012 FIFPro World XI. We have two nominations Suarez as a striker and Stevie for the midfield . How Stevie got in I don't know !

An honest question, and im sorry for how short it is after you typing all that ^^^^. Would you prefer a league cup win and to finish 7th in the league or would you rather "punt" all cups,be knocked out in the first round and finished 4th in the league?

Ahhh so you are the Devil. :D

Well my hypothetical answer to your hypothetical question would be that I would take a guaranteed 4th place over a guaranteed 7th place and a league cup.

I have not always thought that way, but right now that is how I feel given how far away CL football feels and how far away competing with within the top four feels.

Well said. Lucas is so overrated by Liverpool fans it's hilarious. He has improved a lot since his first few disastrous seasons in a Liverpool shirt but he ain't no Mascherano. Nor Didi Hamann for that matter.

I dont believe this argument to be honest. It was mainly when Mascherano left that LFC fans realised how good Lucas really is. Mascherano ran around like a blue ar$ed fly launching into tackles and it was pretty visible that his work rate was exceptional. Lucas is a different type of player in the position. His reading of the game is better IMO and his possession and passing range is better than Mascheranos. His big weakness is lack of pace but his reading of the game makes it something of a non issue. The only time I remember it being really exposed was at the Emirates where he was chasing Walcott, and couldnt get near him.

And I dont think he had disatrous seasons.....he was nothing special in his early days, but rarely had anything to do with game changing incidents, but for some reason the crowd seen his as a scapegaot for poor performances. If one player doesnt make a team then one player cant be at fault for all the bad performances.

And ill ask yet again. Who fills in for Sterling?

Wisdom or Kelly at right back, fine with that.
Coates or Carra in the centre, fine with that.
Downing or Cole on the wing in place of Sterling, no siree, i am not ok with that.

Anyone here know this Auba fella in the French league? That Eziz fella on twitter mentioned he would fit well into the team.

The way Brendan is choosing players on the left it wouldnt be out of the realms of insanity to see Wisdom right back and Johnson where Sterling plays.

nice to hear those words from Rodgers about Sterling and his concerns.

owners really have tied his hands. and fooked him over for his first few months of an already very hard job.

    And your preference?

My preference doesnt come into it, whatever schedule keeps Sterling's development moving forward in the right way is the whole point. Id even go so far as to suggest he misses a training session or two or at the least only does light training in comparison to those fringe players who arent playing much. I dont know Brendans methods on the training ground but training schedule plays a big part in preventing fatigue over a season as much as game time.

Exactly what i thought. BR rests Sterling in place of Downing, we lose a game, Downing has a shocker and people then use that as a stick to beat BR. Its pathetic.

If Sterling turns out how we hope he does, he'll be at the club a lot longer than any manager since Shankly. Short term results should not take precedence over Sterling's development and physical well being. If Rodgers is intent on wringing everything he can out of Sterling for short term results then he is doing the club a disservice. Bottom line.

Gerard is man to rotate with sterling. This other fella Assidi is due a game. Of course we have options to rest Sterling

Whats pathetic these days is fans who cant see through the spin coming out of the club.

And how long can you go without winning something before that "top class" tag is taken off you? 17 years without a trophy seems to be perfectly acceptable around here.

I presume your talking about KD? he was not my first choice for the full time position of manager but in saying that out of Three competitions he could win he got us to two finals winning one, that is not to be looked down on and is the reason we still are involved in three competitions.

And although league form is paramount, there was displays last year that were simply outstanding and of course ones which were attrocious and based on league finishing it was a failure of a season but so too is this, one we will probaly finish somewhere between sixth and tenth.

So i dont see that much of a difference between last year and this year and as of yet i dont buy into the BR dream and i think talk of 3 or 4 year plans is silly, regardless of who is in charge, today we sit joint 12th with Norwich and this is the reality of going into December and thats not really a position anybody should be happy with at LFC and its a position that questions need to be asked of ALL involved.

Agreed but there is no point crying over past managers. We have BR and the jury is out. He still has time before I'll be calling for his head.

I agree, foolish to call for his head.

He needs positive preasure placed on him to see how he copes and how he gets the team to react because even though not the best squad we ever had its not the worse one either and the points tally should be alot higher.

Have to agree. Anyone who wanted massive change this early on was delusional.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Exactly. Too often he gets slaughtered after a game, people arguing about one under performing average player over the other. We have a decent starting 11 but overall the squad is pretty weak. He needs time.

My biggest fear is that we turn into a club like Aston Villa, sacking manager after manager rotting in mid table.

This is the thing after AF,AW & DM leave or move on then that is the future, out of all the teams of EPL today who is there more than five year? Managers do not have time anymore and that wont change, i will say that BR has from now till this time next year to save his job.

Sad but true. In fairness this time next year providing the owners cough up a few bob is enough time.

One year at Watford, Six months at Reading, Two seasons at Swansea City coming up in the play off game. Not winning the league. Before joining Liverpool.

I'm sorry but if that is successful we might as well get Big Sam in he won the league of Ireland with Limerick and brought West Ham up in the play offs as well.

Shankly wasn't exactly a wildly successful manager prior to arriving at Liverpool. Didn't turn out too bad did he?

Jose Mourinho didn't have much experience prior to Chelsea and even less so prior to Porto. He's not the worst manager either.

You've got to earn your stripes somewhere. This is Rodgers big chance.

Past performance is not a guarantee of future success

Why the hell are you talking about hypothetical situations like this? It is not a bloody choice. The way things are going, we will not attempt to win any cup and still won't finish higher than 7th, if even close to that.
