Very happy with my purchase, i was going to get a Nexus 10 but the N7 just seemed to suit my needs perfectly.
I cant get over how nice the screen is,especially when i increase the brightness.
Highly recommended to anyone sitting on the fence.

Yes, I've nearly 30Gb uploaded over the last few months. You just need to use the vpn to sign up.

    Hi all,

I just got a Nexus 7 last night and loving it so far. I'm not into gadgets and other than an MP3 player and my laptop this is it my techy total so far.

Setting up the unit was so simple and everything synched with my facebook, google accounts etc, downloaded some apps and everything was super. It told me an update was available for Android so I installed that as instructed.

Now comes the problem. I can't copy any files from my laptop to my Nexus. I connected the USB cable, it installed the drivers and all looked good.

According to my laptop, the Nexus is connected and working fine. According to my Nexus, it's connected to my laptop as a media device and everything should work fine. However, when I try to drag and drop files into my Nexus I get an error message saying "The device has either stopped responding or been disconnected".

It hasn't been disconnected and I don't know what else to do. I have tried diconnecting it, then switched off the laptop, re-connecting and re-starting the laptop but nothing has changed.

I have googled this issue but can't seem to find an answer that doesn't involve really techy sounding stuff that I don't understand.

Surely it can't be that complicated to copy a few music files and pdf's?

Get Airdroid. For a quick fix, if you have wireless at home.

    Thanks acalmenvoy,

That worked, although it still seems pointlessly complicated to me. I had presumed that I would just "drag and drop" files like I do to my MP3 player.

Anyway, I'm a technophobe at the best of times.

    Thanks again.

Thanks, will give that a go. I've not noticed any lag issue but hopefully this will fix it anyway.

Nope, that didnt fix it. Google Services still accounts for about ~30% of all battery use; I've hardly used it since a full charge yesterday morning and its down at 40% this morning :(

    Hi all,
Heads fried trying to order a Nexus 7.
    Have tunnelbear running.
Logged into wallet. changed new address to parcel post one listed for the north.
Upon coming to checkout, I add a new payment method which is my irish credit card, irish address with the postal code from the depot up north at the end?
Keeps saying technical error and not it's saying my Card is invalid?
    Any thoughts.
    Thanks in advance

I want to get the 3g version Steve. I spend a bit of time travelling. Also do some night photography here in Ireland as well so want to be able to be mobile when stuck out doing landscape photography at all hours of the day/night.
I've friends up north that I could as to order it for me but would like to do it myself. Have tried everything as suggested here on these threads but no joy.

If you have an android phone you could use it as a hotspot for the tablet using the phone's 3G. Possible solution?

Google Music allows you upload music you already have to the cloud, this is what we're on about. I don't pay for music

You're not charged for the tethering. Test it out with your laptop. Also, it would be better to put down 10 euro on an extra few gigabytes on your phone plan rather than having an additional plan for another device.

Just remember though that some apps will treat the connection a bit differently. Some apps might use data conservatively on a mobile connection but go all out on a Wifi connection.

Thanks for the heads up. Either ways I'd like the 3g for travel.
Thanks again. Just tried again there to order and no joy. Think I'll create a fresh account and use the mothers credit card. Who'd have thought it would be this hard to part with money :-)

If I do decide to go with the wifi only, wher ein ireland has the best deals/availability
    Thanks again

That and addition of HID devices

    Hi guys/gals,

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the 4.2 (or I guess 4.2.1) jellybean update! My Nexus 7 is rooted with clockworkmod. I've got the message to get a system update around 4 times and each time i accept the update fails! I also tried updating manually via clockworkmod but this fails each time I attempt it too!

    Cheers :)

You'll need to revert to a stock recovery. You'll invariably find the details on how to do this in the rooting guide you used.
